Hastert's solution: Phone Hotline?

I figured this was worth a new thread.

I heard good ol' Denny Hastert at his press conference yesterday offer a new phone hotline for the people of America to contact in case they're harrassed by a member of congress or some such thing. WTF? Am I supposed to heartened by this great fatherly gesture?

That had to be about the most insulting and patronizing piece of BS I've ever heard from a politician. What a loser. I'm heading down to post office to re-register as an Independant.

Congressional phone-sex hotline?

"Help! Help! I'm bein' repressed!"

Yeah, they played the message greeting on NPR this morning. I expect many parodies to follow. Bet John Stewart has fun with it.

But really, this is a perfect metaphor for what government does. Like searching my sneakers at the airport. "Here ya go--does this make you feel better citizen? We're doing ALLLL we CANNNN."

Considering yesterday's New York Daily news had three separate articles about sex-with-teacher, I would say there are many, many institutions in the good 'ol US of A that need a hotline.

The stone cold reality is - these people are out there. All over. It is just not the perv jumping out of the bushes.. Got kids and teens? Teach them to beware and be safe.

I'm gonna call the hotline and tell them the Speaker really, really needs to push himself away from the dinner table. And breakfast and lunch tables.

He's a prefect metaphor for our government, fat, bloated and drunk with power.

Oh, I forgot...

NPR called the number, and it didn't work.

Dollars to donuts that number is never listened to or probably goes to a computer that deletes all recorded content nightly.

That was good!

"If you want to argue whether Congress acted appropriately 24 years ago in the Gerry Studds matter, please stay on the line and someone will remind you it's 2006."
