I don't think he agreed to a dyno run. Wouldn't running it on the track be more of a challenge anyway?
Regardless of track or dyno, if the thing either detonates or achieves its RPM mark, Wayne's servers are going to blow a gasket when the results get out - which will be funny. Ah, bread and circuses.

I cant believe people are backing out now...2 days to go and you guys who nutted up are backing out?
I dont understand.....Is that how things are done in California? Crap like that doesnt happen here in florida......PUT UP OR SHUT UP is the tone we use. execmalibu...put them all thru the ringer if they dont show... Have we waisted these 27 pages of taunts! Pathetic....I am so disappointed.. Where is Jack Olsen..? Get him to ride with you, he has a good rep from what I understand on the track...I do think he checked in once or twice. (Ofcourse I can talk crap -- because Im in florida)

Also, the track outing sounds like a good idea but based on other posts Willow is too small for a lowish HP car to reach 165 MPH, let alone 145 MPH of a stock 'S'. What can be proved by going to Willow??

i don't think he eer said he was going to do 165 at willow- just that it will pull to 8k plus on the track in the 1st 3 gears. i am sure he is will to demonstrate on some lonely road adjacent to the track what the car could do- but that could cost you another $100 ...

It would be impossible to prove or disprove anything based on the parameters outlined in this thread; if the 35 y.o. factory tach bounces off the 8k marker during shifts this proves what(?)
A dyno would be the only way to settle it other than "yeah, the car runs really strong...."

NOW WE CANT TRUST OUR GAUGES?? WHATS NEXT?
If you think the original VDO tach is wrong by 1,000 RPM then why in hell would you ever trust any of those other lousy German VDO gauges..
According to your theory driving any Porsche is absolutely crazy.. I would never risk taking any German car on a long trip because we all know that those gas gauges are all unrelible... Even though the gauge says that you are half full your car could run out at any moment! That is why you should always carry a wooden stick to dip into the gas tank. And everone knows the oil pressure is really only at 5 PSI when the gauge says 60+ PSI.. Your right never use a German tool or instrument because we all agree they are crap! If you guys are now calling the German VDO gauges which are considered the very best automotive gauges inaccurate I can only imagine what you will say next.. you guys win.. This is ridiculous |

The tach and speedo mentioned was for the RSR, NOT a "proper" 2.4 911S. Guys, forget the track, let's see 8500 on a dyno run.

I love fierce competition and I believe a bet can make competition more fun (...more at stake). For fierce competition you need at least two "sides". There have been many good suggestions about how to validate what execmalibu has said his car will do. I like the idea of a dyno run but I dont think that it can be part of the Willow Track day can it?
I have a hunch the car will reach the point on the tach execmailbu claims it will (regardless of whether that is exactly 8500 rpm or not). Consequently my money should be on execmailbu. However, I dont know if there are any formal takers against execmalibu and without such takers, there will not be two sides because execmalibu wont have the incentive he requires to show up...as far as I can tell. That would be a tragedy for all who have invested time reading this thread. So, I will bet 100 (USD too!) against you, execmalibu, even though I cant come to this event. My only condition is that someone on who has participated on this thread that does not think exec malibu will reach the agreed on point on his tach sit in the car for me and take a video and post it on youtube, myspace or some other site. Provide the url on pelican. I can send a money order or use paypal. Will someone who is going and who has a video camera do this for me?

His tach only goes to 8000 RPM, so not really clear on how you would verify 8500 w/ a camera(?)

TIM "TIWEBBER"
I offered to take the car to a dyno. I gave the name of the company (DC PERFORMANCE) and phone number. All any of these big talkers needed to do was call make an appointment and send $85 BUT they never did.
I appreciate your generous offer but all of the guys that are making all of the noise and calling me a liar are like TOWERS OF JELLO. They say I bet this and I bet that, but when I accept their challenge they start with excuses and never "NUT UP"... Having someone else pony up for these guys was not my intent. The guys that are saying Im full of ***** are the ones that I want to step up..Put their money where their big mouths are..It has not happened, a bunch of pussies hiding behind their computers.... I refused Dan Buyers money and I refuse yours. I think that I should send my crapy gauges out the VDO to have them checked.. But alas we all know no matter what is determined and even if there is a video posted with the needle a half inch past the 8,000 RPM mark they will never accept the truth. Speeder you nailed it! There is no way to prove 8,500 RPM I am full of it so I guess you guys win..And you guys never had to put up a cent! Last edited by execmalibu .; 11-13-2006 at 08:46 PM.. |

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to interpret gauges......It is possible and is a practice that is used all the time in the FLYING buisness....with lives on the line daily with this practice. I would say that it would be acceptable for a tach....the only thing at risk would be a motor...
as we say in florida "put up or shut up." I think he is going to take your money.

If I show up, it will never be with the intent to bet $100 that someone can stress their engine to a disputed RPM; I can do that with my own engine.
I'd rather spend the money on 100-octane, tee-shirts and maybe a photo of my car around turn 4. So if EM shows up, fine. If not, fine. In the long run, who cares?
