165MPH in a vintage car on a public road. Sounds like another Darwin award coming up. Hard to believe a professional driver would feel the need to do such a thing.
If the great challenge ever takes place (or maybe it has? I havent read to the end of this yet - I only get 2 hours for lunch!) - someone please strap a JATO to the roof. Hey - GREAT thread! I havent been here for months because I grew tired of the same old arguments. At last - something we can all dig our teeth into! Chat board based virtual bench racing!

Well that’s it all bets are off that picture blows us all out of the water, that’s a guarantee the motor does all he says. I am sure that tach is dead on, no need to go any further, where do I send my 100 bucks?

we were easily going over 3 billion MPH! had to shut it down due to heat tiles coming off on reentry! the only crow thats gonna be eaten around here is by you mali-boo spin boy! no one has purchased your car, no one has seen 165 PLUS MPH while blowing the doors off TURBOS and nobody will likely see any 8500 rpm shifts either! i ve watched this as others hit the apex and then fall. speed is picking up now that its come down to the wire. a lot of people have gone either way believing or naysayers. i personally feel that you should stick to the hollywood stunts. i feel that being upside down in a jet right off the deck would more than likely impress all of us to no end! but im really wondering and concerned by the fact, that you were not invited to tom cruises wedding in italy! man i guess you fell off the A-LIST! bummer for you! my suggestion on selling your car............find somewhere on the planet that doesnt have computer access. maybe somewhere like the kyber pass, afghan., the congo, maybe darfur, africa and explain to the uneducated masses how your car goes 165PLUS w/8500rpm shifts and can beat any TURBO AROUND(the numbers of turbos in these areas is astounding-honest) im sure the local kahuna will be more than happy to trade all his pigs/goats and sheep for such an impressive ride with such a dubious background! |

IT IS JUST A PHOTO OF MY TACH AT 8,500 RPM.
Today is the big day and not one of you Pussies has stepped up to the challenge...
I said PUT UP or SHUT UP... Its only a $100 Bucks I offered to take the car to the track and also the Dyno but not one of these guys who has slammed me has accepted the challenge... WELLL LADIES I have waited for over 5 weeks and still nothing? They all told me this would happen. Now it is the Tachs not accurate, the Photo is not accurate the Speedo was off...excuse after excuse.. Here is the factory gear chart. According to the Porsche factory with a stock 5th 145MPH is attainable at 6,500RPM.. and 155MPH is at 7,000RPM. Peak Horse Power is at 6,500RPM (2.4 S).. My engine pulls hard to 8,500. Dave from TRE has posted that I was "glued to his BUTT" when his 2.8 RS Carrera was at 7,800RPM if 5th. I have 24.5 inch tires...(Stock Diameter) Do the math.. Dan has bailed, TRE Dave has bailed, Thomas has bailed....Since not one of the big pussies who laid down the gauntlet has stepped up or has been man enough to "NUT UP" I guess there is no reason to waste any more of my time ... FLAME AWAY GIRLS!

My $200 was offered:
1. You are not going to run against a 930 (or mine). 2. You are not going to go 165 mph So who's the female genitals? EDIT: I believe that there were a number of offers to contribute to see you do the 8500 rpm claim. You originally signalled your intent to "prove" your claims on page 16. Why does it matter if several people decide to contribute to match the $100 bet? If you're soooo well off and don't have to work everyday, just getting out to run the car for free (cause it's not going to break per your ad/claims) and maybe win a $100+ - not that that matters to you, seems like a no brainer.

Ok,
So here is what I got from this Topic. ExecMalibu has admitted to being stuck to another guys butt. Dave from TRE has posted that I was "glued to his BUTT" when his 2.8 RS Carrera was at 7,800RPM if 5th. He is a very proud gentleman! He can take a picture of his tach while out of gear since at 8500rpm the car vibration would normally not yield a clear picture, but then again, he may have a better digital camera than I do. He must also have very steady hands since he would have to control the car at that point. Oh... he was probably stearing with his knees or he took viagra and was steering with something else. Maybe he has 30 inch wheels, which would clearly throw off the calibration. Obviously all of this is in good humor, unless taken otherwise. It is very interesting to note that in all of the calculations he never takes into account the drag issues related to a targa in general, not to mention the issues when the top is off. I owned a 72S targa and all I remembered was getting the car up to about 130 with the top off and it was a bit of a handful even with the windows rolled up. I also found that I looked like a chicken when I exited, so I didn't do that very much. I also had the pleasure of owning a 74 3.0 RSR for a long period of time that was rated at 380HP. The top speed on that (given the gearing) was 180 give or take a very little. This car was clearly aerodynamically superior to this targa regardless of what the claims are and there was a much lower drag coefficent. This car was traded for a 97 TurboS because it was something that could be driven. With over 400 hp, all wheel drive, proper tires, proper aero aids and a competant driver (not me of course) this car was truly capable. There is no way a car that is stock can do what he is claiming without very serious modifications to the body, suspension, etc. to make it more slippery and viable at those types of speeds. Some of you will remember some years ago when I organized and lead a group of 15 plus Porsches to the Hershey meet where I was driving my 73S. At one point we were doing over 130 and there was plenty more to go. It was stock, but I do not beleive it would have goine much over 150 if that much. |
