That's why I watch HBO a lot. They actually will give a new show time to grow and build. Show's like "Rome" and "Deadwood" would never make it on regular TV. What surprises me is that "The Office" is still on, giving its suble humour and sarcasm.

The only shows I stop to watch anymore are on HBO and Showtime.

Entourage is one of my favorites, Weeds (although I do not approve of the lifestyle) is really funny, and now Dexter has got me as well.

It had its moments, but there was some pretty bad writing on the show. Plot holes you could drive a truck through. And Ray Liotta....I don't know what happened but seems like Goodfellas killed him, somewhat literally.

Check out Studio 60.

the British version yes?
i saw the american version once, and nearly cried, so watered down, so poorly copied.. it's a shame that was allowed to retain it's name.

Wayne - now that Smith is off the air, that should free up some time for your to check out Battlestar Galactica.

(Shameless plug)

Track seaon ended early for me this year - thus nothing to obsess over.

I fear it is becoming an addiction. ;) My latest idea - get Ron Moore to name the next human-cylon "Zoltan."

I liked much of "Studio 60" but it quickly dissolved into "Studio West Wing" for me. Same witty yet serious banter and interwoven topics interspersed with moments of deep contemplation. Would of preferred Aaron Sorkin to come up with a new idea instead of putting on a new coat of paint to the same vehicle.

As quoted by Aaron Sorkin himself, "At its heart, 'Studio 60' is the same thing that 'The West Wing' was at its heart. It's about a group of people committed to professionalism, committed to each other, to what they're doing, and hopefully we enjoy watching them every week."

Crap, I liked that show... That leaves CSI (vegas), the Unit, Galactica and 2 1/2 men ! More free time for me I guess !

Wayne, I was getting into Smith also. I think given more time the plots would have gotten better developed. I am not a fan of Boston Legal and I was a long time viewer of Law and Order-SVU, but have tired of it, so Smith was something fresh.

I think they needed more of Amy Smart ripping her blouse open.

layzee 10-12-2006 01:30 PM

Any of you guys watch Eyes? That was a great show cancelled way too early.

jjwood 10-12-2006 04:42 PM

WE want Smith. We want Smith..We want Smith.

Some neat cars in that show too.

Would a letter / email campaign work? How bad were the ratings?

Those network hacks never get it right. Sad when the best thing on TV is HGTV.

Oh well.

epbrown 10-12-2006 06:12 PM

People like me probably killed "Smith." I watched every episode online, using CBS' web site. It was all right, but I found it a bit misogynist - almost every female character was a manipulative *****.
