Reporter: "General, is it true that you carry a pearl handled revolver?"

Patton: "Its ivory. Only a pimp from peoria would carry a pearl handle revolver."

If you put peas in that thing it will rust the bore.

And it sure as well wasn't a 1911; Patton was a Peacemaker man. No ivory grips, but this is the great grandaddy of all .45's:

Yesir Jeff that would be the one. Patton did carry a Colt 1903 auto as his "dress" gun though.

targa911s, that 1911 is a fine looking gun. Clean, pure 1911.

Finally got to take it to the range... its SWEET, but I think I really need a scope to bring out its best.

BTW - are the gunbroker.com forums auto redirecting to the auction side for everyone else? if so anyone know if this was planned or a plug pulling?

The caliber a man carries should be larger than his waist size...for me that means this:

Nice choice Hardrive. I'd like to own a Sig someday. Maybe in .40 cal. I'd have to loose some weight though. ;)

Trying to go the other direction...if I do well maybe something in a .357 Sig? I dunno...that'd be H.S. size for me.

Thanks HD. It was a salvage project. It was made in 1917. When I found it it had been PAINTED. Sorry to say I could not restore it to original but I think it looks pretty good...pimpy as it may be. The 1903 was a turd also, but I like saving old iron so it got the treatment too. I dumped the pearl grips and now it matches the 1911, sportin tusk.

Drago is that a Colt or a clone? Mighty fine indeed. If that don't stop em ya better be a good runner!

I just traded in my .40 cal berreta for the H&K P2000. shoots real nice except it gets real dirty quick and the mag release sucks.

Both guns look great. I don't think the 1911 looks 'pimpy'. It looks like a ceremonial/dress gun. Very clean.

The only guns I don't care for are the nickel finish (chrome) ones. Just nasty. Hmmmmmm....come to think of it, I don't care for the new two tone guns that seem to be the latest fashion. I think Kimber started it with their eclipse model, then springfield came out with the 'black stainless'. Now Sig has the Equinox series.....give me a break. Guns are tools for killing, not some god damn fashion statement. (says the man with a closet full of brooks bros shirts.....)

One of my SIG's is a P239 in .40 and I have a 1911 sort of like Drago's too that just went to Robar last week for refinishing. So far the only pistol I own small than my waist is my H&K P7 in 9mm.
