How many member here in Germany?

Looking for some members located in Germany, particularly someone near a town called Erlangen, which appears to be about 230km North East of Stuttgart.

There's a company there, that has something I need very badly, and very quickly...but they say 4-6 weeks...which I am assuming is thier ground-shipping "slow boat from Germany" time...

Wouldn't it be easier just to ask them to air freight the package and pay the difference?

They're slow as hell at answering email. I've asked them if there's a rush service fee I can pay them...hell, I'd even pay for overnight shipping.
I've got a friend in Stuttgart looking into it now. He'll call them tomorrow and see what they say. Nice thing is, he's US Military, so he can use USPS Global Priority to ship it....if they'll sell it to him right away...

ze Germans do not always speak good english

had the same problem with other suppliers.... get a german to call them and you'll be smooth sailing...by now i can actually stand my own in german... because of all the gear i ordered in Germany for my 911 restore

Just call them up. It's a nine hour time difference for you. Most of them in the west speak passable English.

I sometimes work part time as a courier of high security items. In Oct., I hand carried some Boeing 767 parts from Seattle to Dubai as the airline needed them "Yesterday".....The whole deal was a $10,000 tab....I'm available....

This is probably not helpful, but I am in Erlangen twice a year because my in-laws are from there. I will be there in January next. Let me know if I can do anything for you then.

I spoke to them a few days ago, and things were kind of funky in the communication between us..they didn't seem to understand what I was talking abou t when I asked about prices, delivery time, and a small change in one of the parts, and if I could get the old style part...

Got someone working on it now, but January will be a bit too late. I need the parts ASAP, as it will help me produce 3 times more than I can produce now, and my orders are piling up as fast as I can take them. But, it may be a week or two before my guy can get there...
Are you in-laws located there now? Think they might be able to check and see if the part I need is available for immediate purchase by a local?

If so..here's the company info:
IWT Industrielle Wickeltechnik GmbH
Weinstraße 39
91058 Erlangen

i know exactly what you mean, you , have a language barrier in full effect... had the exact same thing with Koller.de, and it only went away after i enlisted a couple of Germans in the office where i work , as translators...

Well, we've hit a snag already with my guy in Germany. Turns out, the company has to order the parts and wait for them...thus, I wait too.

He's pulled the trigger on this, so I guess I've just got to wait awhile...
Thanks!

If you want to explain all this to me on PM, I speak perfect German and would be happy to call them for you. I use dirt cheap CHinese calling cards that run around $.015 per minute to China, so Germany would be dirt cheap too.
