Fair enough, but that was my point...... These BCS bowls shouldn't be guaranteed to conferences.
Other than the BCS Championship title game, who really cares about the others?

They are just bowl games like all the other million bowl games, aren't they? Nothing on the line, other than saying you won a bowl game, no?

Isn't the money distributed among all the schools in the school's conference?

The Alumni cares for bragging rites; the school cares for $$$ reasons. Since their winning ways, SC's managed to purchase nearly every piece of property in south downtown Los Angeles.

I believe it is both, a lump to the team and the balance to the conference. But I could be wrong. Either way, it's a ****load of scratch.

lendaddy 12-02-2006 05:46 PM

It's also about building your "brand". A lot of SC hats and shirts have been bought outside Cali in the last 4 years.

I think a set amount is made for each bowl depending upon its importance.

MichiganMat 12-02-2006 05:48 PM

What do you mean? Im totally watching the Hyundai-Frito-Bowl, its going to rock!

dd74 12-02-2006 05:50 PM

Just as long as you're not watching the toilet bowl on New Years' Day.

Porsche-O-Phile 12-02-2006 06:30 PM

Wow. Just. . . wow. I figured the Trojans to whallop UCLA by at LEAST two touchdowns. What a choke.

Just goes to show you can't spell "suck" without "U", "S" and "C".

Great, loser Gary Danielson is now on the CBS broadcast urging...pleading...begging BCS voters to choose Florida for the championship game.

This is sickening. Brent & co. did it last week with USC...and now Danielson is doing it this week. Terrible sports journalism and uncalled for. This postuering is ruining college athletics.

there's an oxymoron...

I've never understood "bragging" rights. Maybe for the people who actually *play* the game (although that's bush imho)...but not the fans. I guess drinking beer and throwing up *is* a contribution though...

Navy, but Army kept it much closer than anyone expected.

UCLA

Hugh R 12-02-2006 08:18 PM

Wifey and friends went to UCLA, we watched on TV. They were elated not just that UCLA won, but that they denied USC a championship spot, that to them was worth as much as the win.
