Is anyone here a Football, Soccer or Track Official?

I was just signed on as a Track Official/Starter....I'm currently a Soccer and Football Ref....

The Track and Field posotion is hard to get into as there is a small need, the officials don't need to be in particularly good shape (no running) and you need to have a gun.....most positions come open when someone DIES....

They allow us open barrelled .38s to use.....

So my s/s .357 Smith and Wesson counts....

Wow, I think you are misinformed about the guns they allow. The most you need is a 22. If you use anything bigger it is like hunting sparrows with a shotgun. I was a starter for many years.

With the new electronic timing they need something a bit louder to actuate the start. At least that's what the assignor that interviewed me told me.....

I have my first meeting January 31st and I'll get the straight poop.

I was surprised as you are. My Dad simply used a cheapo .22 solid barrel....I asked him about it when I asked if I could use it....he said it had rusted away....

Obviously a .22 would be cheaper to operate and less destructive to the hearing....I plan on using BOTH those yellow ear plugs AND muffs.
