OMG - What a car

Unbelieveable 4 Cam Carrera 2:

1962 356 Carrera 2

Very fine gauges. Anyone know what annular braking is?

And what are the two black knobs above the radio for?

rammstein 12-21-2006 10:45 AM

Annular braking- once a year it stops real good-like.

Cool lookin car.

daepp 12-21-2006 10:58 AM

Is it just disk brakes? I can't find anything on it.

Moneyguy1 12-21-2006 11:11 AM

Seems to be a sub category of disc type brakes. THe U.S. Patent office mentions it as a categort 71.4 on their site.

I googled it, and I think it's just a fancy name for disk brakes I think in this case it referes to the really funky looking wide-5 disk brakes.

Is one a cigarete lighter and the other a pull starter like my MGA had?

I once saw 4 of those motors being rebuilt in the same shop. Amazing motors.

The one on the left may be a manual choke, the one on the right a lighter?

They could be fresh air intake regulators, but did VW's like 356's have those?

I'm not a 356 expert as you can tell, sorry.

It has key start, although that could of been added - leaving two starters - but doubtful.

Like my MGA that key start looks just like it is an off/on switch to provide electricity to the ignition system. To actually engage the starter you pulled on that knob.

Who knows for sure?

Do you smell burnt toast if you leave it on for too long?:D

Cigarette lighter and headlamp or driving lights switch?
My 67 MGB had a pull type switch for the headlights and I can't see one anywhere else on the dash, but then it could be one of the ones hidden behind the steering wheel.

Yep, that makes sense, forgot about the hand throttle. Had that too.

I want that engine for my ghia!

I wonder what they're asking for this baby; if you have to ask...

R Wilco 12-21-2006 12:21 PM

Lighter left wiper right.

Superman 12-21-2006 12:21 PM

It would look better with the bumpers and the jewelry removed.
