Firearms aren't much more dangerous to society than they were a 100 years ago but a lot more people are.

snowman you are 100000000000000% right
on ramp,we have enough laws on the books, enforcement would be more than enough control.
taking firearms for law abiding citizens is not the answer.
more laws is not the answer.
making firearms illegal only will put them into to the hands of those who do not already follow the law.why should i be penalized for being a law abiding(well mostly)citizen???????
want to change things?than punish the criminal, enforce those laws, stop the bs,and hand slaps.i could go on and on,this is a real touchy subject.
your either for or against,i see no middle.
viva la revolution!!!!!

on-ramp 12-30-2006 06:18 PM

some of you equate owning guns to power, independence, and freedom... on that, i agree 100%

but at the same time, you dont care that you're taxed into the ground?? your government is already taking a lot of your hard-earned money... no complaints there... but when they even think about your guns, then you go ballistic.. wooo

nostatic 12-30-2006 06:19 PM

i like guns

and i'm a liberal

go figure

thor455400 12-30-2006 06:31 PM

as i said viva la revolution!
not trying to argue. there are many things in this nation that needs alot of work.taxes, illegal immigration, pollution credits?!?!
so on and so forth, governing bodies don't worry about that, what they do worry about is removing our freedoms, which they do slowly every year.my coworkers and i have had long in depth discussions on these topics, and my answer is i believe in my life time we will see another civil war,i hope it doesn't come to that, but the people will only stand for so much.

i tend to agree, in our lifetime, we will see some kind of an uprising. you can only push people so far. one day they will push back.

a lot of it will be directed towards corporate america, who is putting trillions of dollars into their accounts, and our government who favours the criminals on Wall St. over the average working family.

until then, keep buying more guns and lots of AMMO!

When transported in a car. But, since the only dangerous gun is an uloaded gun, protect society.

Please load your guns.

Jim Bremner 12-30-2006 08:51 PM

fastpat,

in california if you have a child get ahold of your gun. your a criminal.

Anti gun others

I've defended myself and my family with a pistol.

50 miles from any form of law inforcement, out of cell range.

Any time that I drycamp I'm armed

if *******s did a better time raising their kids, we wouldn't need to pass so many laws

Yes, I lived there from early '92 to late '2005. In fact I had the good fortune to go to Sacramento to sit in on the hearings on concealed carry reform in the late '90's. There were lots of interesting people speaking; John Lott, Suzanne Gratia-Hupp, and others defended the natural right to self defense.

Gun control means you won't have a gun anymore. But I still will.

Does that make you feel safer?

And other kinds of hunting. Granted most are shotguns with at least 26" barrels.

There is nothing wrong with owning a simi or full auto gun - they are very enjoyable to shoot. I don't own a simi or auto now but have in the past.

If you grew up owning a gun, learned to respect it and enjoyed shooting as a kid, chances are you still have that respect and enjoyment as an adult. There are also many who discovered enjoyment from owning a gun as an adult and get the same enjoyment from them. The same with carying a pocket knife.

Killers will find something to kill with no matter what you try to control with new / revised laws. And the same for accidents - they will continue to happen - you can't pass enough laws to protect idiots. It is impossible to protect everybody from everything. That’s the mission of fanatics and politicians with ulterior motives.

A lot of the movies, TV programming, web sites, print media and music lead to more killings than simply owning a gun. Are you going to try to revise / do away with all that as well? Guns are sometimes the weapons of choice for killers but they could actually use whatever was at hand. Good upbringing and education are the real path to low crime rates. It's not really complicated.

do you want to see more Columbines in the future? we are one of the most violent nations on the planet. and a good portion is highly attributed to accessibility of firearms.

i'm all for guns to protect you and your family... but we need stricter rules.

Yes, I want high schoolers to have access to guns. We don't need stricter laws. We have too many now.

Do you really believe that Columbine was simply caused by a kid with access to a gun?

The root cause is lack of parential control. As well as some movies, tv, music, etc., bad up bringing and being taught no respect for anyone and no acountability. Being taught that everything bad that happens is someone else's fault.

From my cold dead hands too!

Yesterday my lady and I rode the bike to some friends' house about 80 miles away in God's Country, VA. This morning my friend saw me suiting up for the ride home and saw my put a SIG )220 on my hip. She asked if it was loaded! I said, "What the hell good would an unloaded gun do me if I get stuck out in Deliverance Country?" Unreal! I carry in my car just about at all times too.....if for no other reason, then just to piss off libs.

stomachmonkey 12-31-2006 05:20 PM

Hmmm,

Rick. I certainly would not have a problem with you bringing a loaded piece to my house.

But I would have a problem with you bringing a loaded piece into my house and not telling me.

Rick Lee 12-31-2006 05:44 PM

Ah, I had it locked up in one of my bike cases. Didn't touch it except for when I suited up.
