Coming along nicely.

I've been thinking of picking up a sportster for a winter project. Inspired by this kind of thing (more flat tracker than café, admittedly):

Might be fun to cruise around on.

Keep us updated!

Thanks! I think you should! It's going to be a great release when done. I've already started laying out the 2nd bike. Bobber project gets going next Monday when my guy gets back from the holiday. Wheels are looking good! I have to resize and post later!

I like the purposefulness of that flat tracker bike. Very stylish.

'03 in this case.
It seemed to be a bit underpowered, sounded like a million bucks. pretty comfortable on the open road.

nikita76 12-05-2015 10:00 AM

A funny thing happened on the way to the painter.....I dropped the tank and seatpan off at my buddy's shop for him to clearcoat. He liked my paint job until he started prepping it! He said he had an idea...I told him ok but keep it clean. He wanted to use a new BMW color with the color scheme and this is what I got....VERY HAPPY!!! Exhaust is coming together. Hopefully frame & swingarm in paint next week and spokes come in.

The 02 to 04 Le Mans was a variant of the V11 which I believe came out in 2000. The original V11 (non le mans ) was more of a naked or cafe bike. I have always loved the Le Mans... Great looking bike... I have never had the chance to ride one. They made a few different higher performance variants both naked and with le mans type fairings. The higher performance ones had full ohlins and some nice bits.

motion 12-08-2015 09:29 AM

Looks great! Can't wait to see it on the road!

Yorkie 12-08-2015 02:25 PM

$1100 and all the bits are there except the front wheel, left fairing, clip-ons. oil cooler and stator cover. Its a project so you need to be able to turn wrenches PM me if you are serioushttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1449613357.jpg

Looks great! And that engine should sound great, through those pipes.

The orange reminds me of a colour used on the R1200S, or perhaps Porsche's "Tangerine".

Hey Motion have you ever shipped a bike before ? The bike in the link you posted is scratching me where I itch !!! Back in the day I had a Yamaha DS7 250 and a RD400 and I always wanted to build a Kenny Roberts replica bike. I can't tell if the link you posted is current there's no date anywhere ?

Dude, sorry, just saw this. I get bikes shipped from all over the country. I was using a guy from Ohio who was picking up campers in Montana, so it was convenient for him to come up here. He's no longer doing that gig, so I use my friend Tim Weig at motoshippers.com now. Very reasonable.

No idea on that RD400. Have you heard back from them?

nikita76 12-20-2015 06:33 AM

Sunday morning mockup before sandblast and paint....hopefully by Tuesday!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1450621994.jpg

I emailed the guy twice with no response. It does say local pick up only so he prolly just blew me off. Too bad cause I would have liked that rig.
