cost of the war

I wonder where all the money is going
as reports say the water and eltric still does not really work
in iraq even in the major citys
and we see reports of truck drivers or guards makiing 100k
doing the same jobs as an army guy get 20k for
I donot mind the semi-grunt making the 100k a year
but do mind the CORP billing 250k for the mans time

edit looks like I guessed too low

http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/news/labor2.html

link claims a $5 a day iraq worker is billed at $50 or 10X
so 100k a year man costs the USA what????????
remember who owns this no bid CORP??????

has anyone seen real billing rates for the 100k a year guard

Iraq is a democracy experiment in a petri dish.

What's the cost of no war, and the allowing of continued funding of terrorists and bomb-vests by "Big (extremist) Oil" ?

Seriously, would you Lib's rathrer have our "big oil" control that area and those resorces, or would you rather have some "big oil" DICtator chanting "Death to America" controlling?

???????????????????????????????????

speeder 01-13-2007 10:37 AM

So the private corporation running certain major government projects in Iraq, (at taxpayer's expense), should be viewed as similar to a BMW dealership? Where people have a choice whether or not to buy a $50 hat that says "M-sport" or some schit on it?

How about if every club-footed, minimum wage-earning 63 y.o. cleaning lady w/ an IQ of 87 in the U.S. was forced to buy 3 of those hats every month in order to keep the BMW dealer's profit statement where the CEO liked it? (Note: only one question mark). And then wipe their asses with the hats and flush them down the toilet, so they can buy more? And anyone who questions this logic can be branded disloyal to BMW, probably gay. Frat boys everywhere will beat up pinko, traitorous BMW-haters.

Ridiculous? Yes. And I'll admit it, my bullschit analogy-making skills pale in comparison to even the most amateur, part-time neocon web warrior. You guys truly have a gift.

It's all about admitting ones shortcoming Denis, kudos:D

jyl 01-13-2007 02:01 PM

Well, it is pretty weird that all the stamp-out-waste-in-government Republicans aren't up in arms over the amount of taxpayer money being thrown away in Iraq.

speeder 01-13-2007 02:25 PM

Because it is not being "thrown away". Some very deserving Texas patriots are getting it. No blood splatter on it even. Only in America.

There are truck drivers in the US that are not getting shot at who make about that much (if it is such a good deal...you know you too could apply for the job)....and of course, there is no one in the US military in Iraq that only makes $20K. Imagine how bad the rest of the "information" you posted is. You should try to find your info in other places besides wacko left-wing web sites.

E-1 rate is 1301.40
E-2 rate is 1458.90
plus a 225. kicker for combat

thats a offical army web site 2007 rates

so thats 1526.40 x 12 = UNDER 20k

btw a trooper who just return was the source
of this complant not a web site

Moneyguy1 01-13-2007 04:16 PM

Someone, in the past, posted that the "soldier" over in the ME knew what he was getting into. Same goes for civilian drivers and other skilled people. If they are willing to take the chances for the same money they could make here (which I cannot prove either way), more power to them. They knew what they were getting into.

And, there are those who post with no factual info, make general statements and expect everyone to take those statements as "Gospel".

Well I imagine a "trooper who just return" does not really have all the facts regarding "any" government contract. Scuttlebutt is just that. The website/article you did link was downright silly

I sincerelly doubt there are any E-1s under 4 mths serving in Iraq....and your total left out the tax-free allowances for food, housing, and clothing....which pushes the rate well above $20K.

john70t 01-13-2007 05:13 PM

I guess if the the website "was downright silly", they would very quickly get shut down in a slander lawsuit by Haliburton, wouldn't they?

I mean, if the website facts are completely incorrect, there must be some other more-correct source of information...mmmm... like the government?
I bet you a dollar you won't(typical) have a more competant source, even though some of those high-up guys are "good friends" of yours.

Come on, admit it, let's see if you guys can.
There is so much oil and taxpayer money floating around, that the big mafia-types in both types of uniforms are pooping green.

-All oil profits are unaccounted for.
-All taxpayer funded services are unaccounted for.
-All funding for restructuring projects are unaccounted for.
-This administration can't even keep track of the casualtiy rate.

(wasn't "unaccounted" a catchword in that other big-texas venture which fell apart after making a bunch of money for a few sleaseballs?)

1203.90 is the under 4 month rate for E-1
E-1 rate is 1301.40 is over 4 months and it stays there forever
only E-3 and above get bumps after 2 years in grade and there after E- 1 and 2 never do

still want to know what rate Halliburton bills the goverment for the guy they pay 100,000 a year
guess you donot want to know that

You are correct...but your point is moot, because it is almost impossible to be an E-1 or E-2 over 2....unless you do not go active immediately and have a delayed enlistment of about a year or much of your time was spent in jail.

Even at the regular E-1 rate...they get paid well over $20K.

hytem 01-13-2007 08:33 PM

Well, you could say that 9/11 was a great success for Bin Laden and his crowd.

After all, they suckered Bush into another Vietnam--a bottomless pit of squandered taxpayer dollars with no end in sight. It must be a delight to watch your enemy shoot himself in the foot.

$400 billion? Funny how those SOBs in Washington are so stingy when it comes to health care, which is going thru the roof in costs, prescription drugs (let the public pay top dollar) and other "socialized" services. That kind of money could solve all these problems plus social security. But hell, that's "domestic" spending for the taxpayer. Have to cut that.

Just think of all the dough they would have saved keeping Saddam in power and Iran neutralized.

Where does the line form to kick Bush in the ass?

Yeah right. One field grade article 15 and a 2 year SPEC4 can find himself an E1 or E2 again real quick. There are a lot of guys that get busted everytime they make rank. :D

And just think, for that "well over $20k" all they have to do is work about 120 hours a week. Yep, what a deal.

Then again when i joined an E-1s pay was $701.00 a month and hazard pay was only another $100.00....and the PT was twice as hard.

These new troops are coddled. ;)

The only proper use for the wasted money is in tax cuts. Even if there was no war i would still never favor the socialist programs you list. I'd rather keep my tax dollars, and find my own doctor, thanx.
