Porsche Crest Birthday gift fo my 1 year old girl?

I need a little help from the Pelican gang:

My little girl will be 1 next week and I would like to get her something special from Daddy. No money or toys, she has enough toys and I'm pretty sure she'll be getting money from me over the years.

Any unique gifts you guys have given?
Thanks,

at 1 year there isn't a thing you can give, that will be remembered even the next day.

i think you're overcomplicating things just a liiiiiiitle bit

Spend a day with her doing largely what she wants. The best thing that you can give her is your time and attention.

throwing up and pooping?

Hmmm, maybe I could try that. Would that be considered FMLA time?

Yup, if you want to find something special, get it, show it to her and put it away for a few years. I have no idea what that would be.

I've never understood giving a 1 year old presents, much less those crazy parents that throw a party for them. Hell a 1 year old doesn't even know they exist yet!

This would be something that she could keep forever. Not necessarily something I expect her to remember the next day or even next year, but when she's 16 and hates me she can see what I got her at age 1.

Thanks,
Write her a poem and read it to her. She may want you to read it to her at bedtime. She'll have the poem forever and it will become more and more important to her. My teenage daughter loves to hold on to the things I did for her when she was a baby.

How about a nice bottle of wine that can age for the next 20+ years until her wedding day?

Wayne,

Take alot of pictures, they grow up so fast. My daughter is 11 and she was 1 just a few years ago, I swear! My son is 15 and I can remember his 1st birthday just like it was yesterday! Enjoy them while you can!!

I call this one "I stuff, therefore I am."

...and yeah, I wa a little eager to buy something cool too, but perhaps the German made Kettrike was a bit premature

These guys are right on, gorge on a cupcake, spend time with her, then read a few extra stories at bedtime... (once the sugar wears off)

If you are looking for a long term, lock it away kinda thing maybe put together a box of 'things from when you were 1'. Buy a few newspapers, take some photos of here, buy different magazines, maybe some US currency and put them in a dry secure box. When she's 18/21 give her the box and she might thing it's funny to see how the world has changed. Of course it would be better her if there were a few stock certificates or mutual fund shares.

Chris Streit, we have that trike. Can't start them soon enough on German machines.

Chris Martin, that's a really cool idea. There's always those memory companies that can reprint a newspaper, but you can't reproduce a 20 year old iPod in 2027.

Before my son was born I put the video camera in the car and drove around filming the neighborhood...they are doing a lot of construction now...so things will look vastly different by the time he's 5 even. I wonder who will enjoy this more..him or me?

That's a really cool idea Steve! (I think I'll do that too...)

That's what we did for Little John's 1st b-day. This was the aftermath.
