That's why I think hypenated names are presumptuous, self-centered, impractical, unwieldy and not very thoughful.

How about making assumptions about a person based on their name? Like I said before, if having a hyphenated name is the biggest issue for my (hypothetical) children, then I will go to bed each night feeling blessed. Based on genetics, there is a good chance that they will have heads like prize-winning pumpkins, and won't be able to throw or catch any type of ball. That's what I worry about. |
And why is it that actors and actresses all have three names?

Yep!

Hyphenated names are not self-centered, naming your kid after yourself is.
Skip a generation for cryin' out loud. Honor you father or mother by naming your kid after them, not yourself. I'm so great that there needs to be another me. George Foreman has eight (?) sons with the same name. Give me a break. My $0.02. |
Why not settle on a universal hyphenated name? . . .Like: I'm-too-important-to-just-keep-tradition-and-want-my-kids-friend-to-know-mommy-wears-the-pants-daddy-is-a-wuss

Guy I work with took his wifes name, beyond the pile of trouble it took to get it done, I hope it was worth it. We now call him "Mrs. Anderson."

Sure you have. You've proven it's impossible to have kids when your kahones are in you wife's purse!
