My wife will tell you that life was simpler when I relied on physical labor for our income. I often come home much more worn out when I'm making important decisions all day. Decisions with real consequences for my family's future. It's not often I make big changes, but the times I do are by far the most stressful.
I used to have this Jeep project. Every day I'd come home and tinker with it as well as devote the first half of Saturday to it.

My wife, then GF, asked me "you've been working on that for 2 years, when are you going to be finished"

I replied, "never". It's not the goal. I spend all day thinking and not doing much physically. My brain is exhausted but my body is ready to go.
This is nothing more than activity for my body so I can maintain some balance.

btw, the cost of running the helicopter 3X a day probably outweighs any savings to the shareholders. so that's a BS argument..
it comes down to lazy SOB execs. with their heads in the clouds, thinking they are more important than the avg. guy in the trenches.

Written by a chronic "underachiever", no doubt...

Who cares about cost savings to the shareholders? Shouldnt the Exec have the option to get home in time to watch the last 3 innings of his kid's ballgame???

Isnt the 70 hours per week at the office enough? He shouldn't have the option to trade some $$$ for a little bit of time???

Show me a lazy, successful Exec. That animal dont exist. Not in my world.

And as for the "avg. guy in the trenches" comment...You should Step back before my vomit splatter stains your Birkenstock's.

Time is money. The former chairman of Fluor Corporation had a helipad at his office. He was less than 10 minutes from John Wayne airport in OC. Not saying that was his only destination. Last I knew, there was a wealthy real estate baron from OC's Coto de Caza that had a heliport at his house in a residential neighborhood. For the life of mem I can't think of his name. I believe he owned one of the six ever made Bugatti Type 41 Royales, too.
Your likely referring to Barry Hon of Hon Land Development. He had a kick-ass car collection in a big warehouse in OC. I remember seeing the registration papers out of his 1987 F Testarossa. He paid $2,700 to register that car in 1987 or 1988. I used to Hump his personal assistant (and her sister, but never at the same time :( ) back in the day. The guy was so wealthy that part of her job description was to go around to all of his huge apartment complexes and collect the quarters from the laundry machines. She got a split of the take for her trouble. I believe that she made more money from the laundry money than she did from her regular duties. She was very "talented."
