Was that an SNL skit? I've never seen it, but good stuff nonetheless.

There is NO greater SNL skit than the Christopher Walken/Will Farrell "More Cowbell" skit.
Well, of course unless you count Gilda's Roseanne Roseannadanna... Or her Judy Miller Show Or Eddie Murphy's Mr. Robinson's Neighbrhood Or Belushi's Samurai ________ Or Dan Akroyd's Julia Child skit Or, or, or, or, or....... Much as I LOVE all these, put me down as a Phil Hartman fan. R.I.P. Phil. |
The cowbell skit was great, but not because of ferrell.
Like most modern SNL veterans, his comedy is contrived, forced, and lacked the subtle smartass attitude and sense of timing that made the originals funny. Taledega nights was a perfect example What a POS. I forced myself to watch ithe whole thing, thinking that it has to get better eventually. It didn't. Sure there was some funny stuff, but taking what should have been a 3 second funny liitle quip and trying to stretch it out for 3 minutes was painfull. I kept saying to myself, "OK I got it, move on. It's not funny anymore." They should all be forced to watch monty python every single day. they they will figure out that subtle is funny and sophisticated at the same time. |

R.I.P. Phil -- who lives on in many Simpsons episodes. I'm a big fan of the commercial parodies, especially the Old Glory Robot Insurance spot, which cracks me up every time. Pretty sure it's linked in the 'random videos' thread. |
He can be funny, this is a great video:

Interesting thing in the paper. Here is the biggest name in comedy doing youtube skits. And taking up more of people's veiwing time. Why not leave the 'net to the up and comers and off-beat?

Ferrell has created 'funnyordie' web with a friend to encourage amateur and up and comers to have an outlet to have some fun and maybe gain notoriety. YouTube someone just linked it through there. This short only took 3 hrs to make from beginning to end, funny....

I've got a fever...

I think the funniest thing Will Farrell did was "Anchorman", that cracked me up. It was probably funneier to me because I lived in San diego in the mid-late 80's when Bobby Glover (female) joined the "boys club" on the Sa Diego news and you saw some of the same things that Anchorman portrayed (albeit highly exaggerated). I though Talladega Nights was as unfunny as an Adam Sandler movie, and that's the worst thing I can think to say about any movie!
