disabling the seatbelt warning Audi A4
My GF has an '06 A4 and I am wondering if anyone knows how to disable the seatbelt chime. It is annoyiong as all get out-since if the car is running and you are sitting in the seat and the belt is not fastened it dings/flashes. This is fine if the car is being driven, but is annoying if you are sitting in the driveway doing maintenance, or are at the bank/ATM drive-thru and need to remove the belt for any reason.
On many newer cars(my truck for example) there are specific methods for disabling the chime--but I cannot find anything in realtion to the Audi. Anyone know a procedure? |
A quick Google turns this up:
"You have to reprogram the ECU with a VAG-COM" "Vag-Com solution: Remove nagging seatbelt chime Log onto block 17 - instruments. Recode with module by subtracting 2 from your current number." Looks like you'll need to go to a repair shop, tuner (or perhaps dealer) and have them reprogram for you. The VAG-COM unit goes for around $200. |
"VAG-COM"
that is simply a great name |
I would attack the problem at the seatbelt latch. It's just a switch in there ... make it stick.
