Amsterdam

I'll be in Holland for 1 night, 1 night only. Meet the famous red-beard, and watch him drink.

I land in Holland on May 25th in the evening and will be heading out early afternoon May 26th. Anyone for an all night bender in Amsterdam?

Don Plumley 05-10-2007 01:23 PM

That's a good city for a bender.

Overpaid Slacker 05-10-2007 02:01 PM

It's also a good city for a stiffy, if you're in the right neighborhood (wink wink).

You'll like that town...OH YEA...!

MichiganMat 05-10-2007 04:41 PM

The real question here is: What are you doing the day after?

red-beard 05-10-2007 05:26 PM

I am flying home....

Or do you mean when I get home?

MichiganMat 05-10-2007 08:47 PM

long flight... plenty of time to re-sanctify your mind and body

slodave 05-10-2007 08:53 PM

Stop by the Pink Floyd coffee house. Bulldog cafe is a tourist coffee house, but still neat to go there. Heineken has tours, but you need to sign up in advance. On your way to the airport, stop off at the local coffee shop and grab some space doughnuts ;)

Gogar 05-11-2007 12:05 AM

I went to Amsterdam last year. I think it's in the Netherlands.

MichiganMat 05-11-2007 12:10 AM

Buzz kill. :p

EDIT: Hmm: Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands, located in the south of the province North Holland. Courtesy, Wikipedia.

EDIT AGAIN: Whatever
The Netherlands is often called Holland. This is incorrect as the provinces of North and South Holland in the western Netherlands are only two of the country's twelve provinces (for more on this and other naming issues see Netherlands terminology).

Can't we all just get a bong?? :D

A band I've been seeing for years (The Radiators) did a traveling "bus tour" of Amsterdam a few years ago with a bunch of hardcore fans...I don't recall hearing too many stories about it...I don't think they could remember :)

Joeaksa 05-11-2007 06:14 AM

James,

Stay in touch. Am scheduled to head over to London next Wednesday and not sure where we will head from there.

Used to live just over the Dutch border and went to Enscheide and Amsterdam often. Nice places... you can get in trouble there very easy so remember the wife has a large gun! :)

Excuse you. It would be the equivalent of asking: What is "Florida"?

And Copenhagen is the capitol of Sweden, somewhere in the northern part of Europe.. :D

Nah, she only has a .22 target model and a .32 ACP body pistol. I lock up the large hardware before I leave...

You have my cell number and it works worldwide.

red-beard 05-11-2007 10:55 AM

I'd be going to Brussels, but I'm past the latest train. Should have booked an earlier flight out of Bucharist.

svandamme 05-11-2007 10:57 AM

Brussels isn't much of a party town, you'de need Ghent or Antwerp, depending on what you prefer, barhopping or clubs...

Brussels is great for lounging though...

red-beard 05-11-2007 12:24 PM

I have a cousin in Brussels. I'll see if he and his wife would be up for a run to Ansterdam. At least they would keep me out of major trouble.

creaturecat 05-11-2007 03:58 PM

go to the Van Gogh museum if you have time.

red-beard 05-11-2007 07:27 PM

No time for Museums. 1 night bender. Come see the red-beard drink...

Operators are standing by.

slodave 05-11-2007 08:30 PM

Maybe we can get red-beard to "group buy" for us at one of the shops??

No one wants to see the Red-beard drink?

It is truely a sight to be beheld!

Bill Douglas 05-17-2007 09:52 PM

Have fun, make up a good story in advance for your wife, and don't forget to wear a condom.

Bleyseng 05-18-2007 08:19 AM

Its about 200 euros cash to visit one of the girls in the redlite district...

I saw the famous Red-Beard drink two weeks ago. It was truly a sight to behold...

Not going to be in the area that I know of but one never knows how plans change!

Bill Douglas 05-18-2007 09:43 PM

A nice normal bar, drinking with some really nice Dutch people, is Two Princes on Princegraaf street. Tables outside on the cobblestone sidewalk, trees, and a canal. Very Amsterdam, real Amersterdam.

red-beard 05-19-2007 01:24 AM

That is what I'm looking for. No condom needed!

Only one week left. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. In July, you'll have to meet me in Paris. And in August, Paris or Barcelona...

No rain checks or substitutions.

Bleyseng 05-20-2007 09:26 PM

haha, been there for a beer. I drink Palm bier when in the Netherlands...

If you are dying for a contact or two I can hook you up with relatives there.

Redlight district- 50 Euros gets you to talking about sex.....100 for a hand job...200 for real sex that last more that 5 minutes.....atleast this is from my relatives who live in Amsterdam..

You have to eat the Apple cake while you are there...makes you forget American apple pie. I recommend Hendricksons on Overtoom for the best. Go to the Albert Kuyp street market for a fun day. Tons of good deals and interesting walk. Have lunch at a Surinamese Warung Mini and get a Chicken roti you won't forget!
