Watching the dog poop
I'm talking to the wife and giving her some insight into my work/thought process.
Been sitting here pouring thru 10,000 lines of friggin code trying to fix a problem in a clients shopping cart back end. (Fixing code you did not write sucks.) So I've been at it for awhile and think I have found most or all of the dependent stuff to change but now I need the info to "gel". So off I go to POT for some "mindless" activity because I find when I stop thinking about stuff the solution presents itself. So the wife says, "like when you used to watch the dog poop" I used to come up with the most elegent solutions to my most complex problems when I'd go out for a smoke and the dog would come with me. She'd squat to take a dump and I'd have an AHA moment. It's been a year since we had to put Dakota down. I miss her. Scott |
I'm the same way. I'll take a walk when I'm at a mental impasse. The bigger the problem, the longer the walk.

I'm sure we can find someone here to take a dump in your yard, if it will help...

My dog never lets me watch. She makes me turn around.

The dog probably thinks well at that point too.
Doesn't everyone think up good ideas when they're backing the big brown Cadillac out of the garage? Similar sort of thing I guess - no other distractions. |
I too am a dog person. They are never really gone. And the problem resolution tool you refer to works quite well for me. Let it go - it will come to you.

So you're saying that reading PPOT is like watching a dog poop?!?
