Help w/ 300D

I'm looking for a BBS or any help I can get in order to solve a problem on a 1976 Mercedes 300D. The problem is that the front 3 glow plugs aren't getting any juice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it have a copper "bus bar" that goes to all the plugs? Sometimes they crack or corrode and cut the juice to half the plugs.

Whenever I change glow plugs, I run individual heavy wires to each plug. Makes troubleshooting much easier. Well worth doing if you plan on keeping the car.

It has 2 bus bars, and the power for each comes from two sources, ie. one for the 3 front plugs, another for the back 3. The glow plugs tested fine.

I wish this was my car, it's pristine! I'm just trying to help a buddy out.

I'm not really familiar with the older ones like yours... the oldest I've worked on is an 83, but my money's on the glow plug relay from what you're describing. Sometimes when they get old they don't hit the contacts for both GP feeds. If you can get your hands on another relay, try that.

Here's the forum I generally use:
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums
They've had A LOT of new member in the past couple years, and the clutter of newbie posts has made it a bit of a PITA, especially on the veggie (SVO- straight veggie oil) side, which isn't moderated very well.

Another good forum: http://www.greasecar.com/forum.cfm

Tips? I can't say much about biodiesel, I've only run it once. If you are considering making your own biodiesel processor, you should really look closely at SVO. Same amount of $$ and effort up front, but way less effort to make "fuel" afterwards. I spend maybe 10-15 minutes a week to fuel my 2 cars and my father in law's.

With older Mercedes diesels, many people run 50/50 veggie oil/diesel in their main tank without ANY conversion.

I'm actually hurtin' right now, my regular source has been giving me less oil than I need. Currently hunting for a new restaurant to use.

PM if you want more info. I converted my dad's 83 300sd 3 years ago, and have all the pics & files.
