Flies

OK, mark this thread 1 star now cause it's really lame.

I need help with flies. Have the windows open here at the office, 2nd floor, and have about 10 big-ass flies every day come in and buzz around. these are the kind of flies that when you squoosh them, you have throw away whatever they were on, or repaint the wall. They are big!

I've got 5 fly strips hanging from the ceiling and have moved them to standard flight plans. But instead of fly-encrusted strips, I just get a flyby now and again. They are smart.

Other than shut the windows, any good ideas on what to do?

put up screens.

leave rotting meat outside to attract them.

bomb your house with pesticide.

move out of MA.

Are you sure they're normal house flies, or are they face flies? If they fly very fast and are hard to swat, they're house flies. If they're bigger and slower and easy to swat, they're face flies.

Face flies nest in the walls and come out when it gets warm. Very hard to find the source. House flies are easy--eliminate the trash/**** they breed on.

I have one of those electrically charged tennis racquet style swatters. They actually explode on contact, it's great:D

But in all seriousness, it works great as you don't need them to actually land for the kill. It doesn't take long to thin the herd. After a while you lament their absence:D

Oh, and no mess, just a fried carcass.

Well, I haven't tried it, but I've seen it several places, take a clear plastic bag, fill it with water, and hang the bag in the window. That's supposed to keep flies away.

Welcome this is a Farmhouse
We have cluster flies alas
And this time of year is bad
We are so very sorry,
There is little we can do
But swat them

the flies are gone, thanks for all the good ideas.

the auto parts warehouse below us has a dumpster (good clean cardboard) but on the other side of the dock there's a regular can.

Not sure what it was rotting in there, but some PB Blaster seemed to help.

Scott, did you get my email? I'll be in the City tomorrow.

Those are great - my Brother gave my In-Laws one for a gift a few years ago. Plenty-o-flies on the farm. We had a ball with it. After a few brewhas, I wanted to see just how strong the zap was so I touched it - BIG MISTAKE! Gots to remember - its not about the volts, rather the amps!

(I really am a dumbarse - they tease me about that to this day)
