OK, how do they get the van out when they've finished cementing the bollards in place?

I think a couple of my clients have hired these contractors before. I swear to God, some of these guys are so bottom-of-the-barrel it's scary.

Those look to be 2' squares relative the size of the shoes in the pic. Therefore, there's 6.5 feet between the things, more than enough to drive thru, not a bit tight. Count the squares behind the van and see that the door is open wider than the width of the van. It will fit.

Those things are usually removable. There is a hasp and a padlock at the base so the can be removed when needed.

Actually they drop down into the ground. Have seen these often in Britain. Notice how the tiles on which they are set don't have grouting around them. The whole thing just drops into the ground when needed.

About 2 years ago on one of my projects (I'm a Senior PM for a medical GC) we had an iron worker weld a OR light support beam to the bar joints. The next day the same beam HE WELDED UP fell, hit him and broke his back.

Who's he going to sue now?

They might be 18 inches square. It's hard to tell from the picture. The truck seems to be exactly 4 squares wide, which would put it just a little too wide to get between the bollards, which are about three and a half squares apart. That's more fun to talk about anyway.

If those are 2' squares, that van in 96" wide. I say they are 18" squares and the van is 72" wide.

You don't have to estimate the size of the squares or the van. If you notice the squares just behind the van they span 3 and a half from one side to the other. Now the number of squares between the posts is less obvious but I would guess barely three and a half. If the van fits through at all it will be a tight sqeeze! That is assuming they are not removable.

Those don't look like the retractable type - those are usually more cylindrical (not much decoration to them). They MIGHT be able to angle the van through the gap between the top-most bollard and the corner of the building, but I'm sure if they can, it's accidental luck, not intended.

In either case, it's nothing a sawz-all can't fix.

It looks like they mixed the mortar right there on the tiles making a real mess. I can't imagine whoever commisioned the work is going to be happy about that. That and having to sawzall part of their effort to escape. I hope they belong to a really strong union.
