Norah Jones
On Sundance channel right now.
She's friggin awesome. Has not been anyone like her in a long time. How someone that young gets that much old school chops is beyond me. |
I have been listening to Norah Jones for a long time. I love her voice.
|
Both her parents were talented, and she grew up in a show biz environment.
She's a talent, but I find her quite boring. Just not my thing. |
I have her Starbucks mix CD, it's awesome. They do these "Artist's Choice" CDs that are excellent, they also made a J. Cash one, a Joni Mitchell, and others.
I guess the point is that she has some serious musicology in her for a young person, great taste and a deep knowledge of the roots of popular music. She is Ravi Shankur's daughter, but they are estranged IIRC. |
Here is Norah's half-sister *. Old Ravi sure has some beautiful daughters.

Hit play. |

She has talent and hope that she is using it a bit better as she gets more experience. |

Pretty voice, boring songs, overplayed.
|
Her first album was great but it was just more of the same afterwards with less of the soul.
Ravi sure got around, eh? |
Nora wakes the womens' soul. It's bass fishin' with a bass guitar.
