Gordon Brown, Good For US?
 

The new PM of GB seems to be an unknown. Will he look to be a friend, foe or just keep somewhat quite till after the US elections?

He basically ran the domestic affairs of the Blair government. But seeing Tony's new appointment (3 hrs after giving up command) I think nothing will change in the US/ British relationship....

Bu then again, I am neither and American or a Brit...... :)

He's not even good for the people within his own constituency.

'Bought and sold for english gold' springs to mind.

Just left London yesterday (in frigging France now with a duff internet connection!) and word on the street is that Brown will make some changes to make the new admin appear different from Blair but that for now there should not be anything major going on.

So unknown he has been Chancellor for 10 years! I can barely remember his name.

Seriously though, he has to work with whoever is in the White House but don't expect the same 'Yo Blair!' relationship with him.

I believe he is generally bending slightly more to the left as compared to Blair. Could, for instance, mean that he is more prone to start to return soldiers from Iraq.

With more and more power going to Brussels - the PM is turning into a temporary semi-monarch. One you get to vote for and vote out - while real power and decision making is given to Eurocrats accross the channel.

He is a dour Scot. Blair will be a tough act to follow..

The public opinion in Britain is that Blair was Bush's poodle.

Brown will try and change that on the surface, but I believe very little will change in reality.
