Can you recommend a TV series?

My wife and I have run out of TV series to watch on boring week days nights. We download the episodes from the internet and watch them on a hard disk connected to the TV.

We have just finished Heroes and Grey's Anatomy. We also liked Lost, Desperate Housewives and CSI. We hope to find a series that has been on US TV but has not made it here yet (we do not mind watching TV in English or we can get subtitles).

Can you recommend us a series you like? I have seen a trailer from Jericho and does not look bad.

Any suggestions?

I'm certain I will get absolutely reamed by the PPOT right wingers for this but watch The West Wing, it is a great series and it received many, many awards.

Also, do yourself a favor and find the older TV mini series, Lonsome Dove. One of my absolute favorites. Shogun is also out there and great.

Have you seen Dexter on Showtime yet? Pretty graphic but the story line is riveting and disturbing.

Another favorite is Entourage on HBO.

My wife like House a lot I'll watch if I have nothing to do, the main character is pretty funny and will have you waiting to see what he does or says next.

Agree on "House" although after having watched it a full season you kinda get tired of House's alternately childish, cynical, negative, hardass attitude about EVERYTHING. At least, I do.

I do not watch it every week, maybe once a month so I guess I am not tired of it yet.

Are you kidding? that's what I love about the show. I guess it's because I'm sort of that way myself, but not to such an extent. Character sees the world for what it really is, not the up la-la land everyone else sees.

Another show suggestion: MONK. great show. Obsessive compulsive detective who's afraid of everything

If you haven't seen it, try Law and Order. Smartly written, and you don't need to follow every episode to enjoy it. There are several versions of L&O, I've heard "The Sopranos" is very good. BTW, Desperate Housewives, Lost and Grey's Anatomy are three of my shows.

I wish I had all those 'boring nights' to sit on my ass and watch TV!

I recommend Family Guy, American Dad and Tripping the Rift

Tivo is your friend.

House is not on my Tivo hence my rarely seeing it. Other shows are because my schedule is too hectic to remember to sit down on a certain night at a certain time to watch a certain show.

Paco has the ideal setup. I am thinking of doing the same myself.

+1! "House" is great.
One of the few shows I'll watch on network TV. All that other reality, and "Who wants to be a millionaire/ pirate/ survivor/ rockstar/ dancer/ loser etc,etc..., show crap is pathetic. What happened to all the sitcom and drama writers? Have they all died off?? Broadcast TV has hit an all time low.

Thank god for TV Land and old reruns!!

"monk" on usa network,
"deadwood" on hbo,
"dexter" on showtime,
an extinct show , maybe it is still available somewhere, "nowhere man." i think it was fox or upi.
just started watching a new one on usa, "burn notice."

another good one was called "dead like me", also on showtime.
can't go wrong with "the rockford files" or"magnum".

i heard a TV critic here locally say that a new series coming out call mad men on amc is suppose to be great. its about a TV ad agency in the 50's when TV was just taking off. suppose to start 7/19 as i saw in an add the other day. not much hype about it really so i will give it a shot.

HBO's Deadwood is brilliant. Vular, violent and brilliant.

For regular TV, rent the first season of Kiefer Sutherlands "24".

For a mini-series, "Lonesome Dove" was likely the best ever made.
