The Saints are Coming

As a Saints fan I can't wait for Sept 6 to get here. My crystal ball says Saints & Pats go all the way. Breese & Deuce start at 100% unlike last year. Reggie now understands this is the NFL & you can't beat people to the corner. Receivers have improved. D has made big strides.

The Saints are coming.

Of course there's the big question:

What week will we be in when the Raiders win their first game?

Mule 07-27-2007 11:25 AM

Do you mean this year?

Actually, Reggie beat people to the corner all year long. What remains to be seen is if he can survive extended duty going up the middle. The Saints defense is still insufficient to provide a superbowl berth IMO. But if we get an Eagles- Saints NFC championship game, i will hardly complain about it. :)

Touche. I say about Week 5 or so.

<--- Lifelong Patriots fan

I'd love to see Pats/Saints. Our opinions probably differ on desired outcome however. :)

Week 1 vs. Detroit.

Im losing my interest in the NFL fast, and may cancel my NFL ticket package
this year. It just does not matter much any more.

If Stallworth and moss stay healthy, and moss actually plays like he cares, it's hard to see the Saints as even in the same league as the pats IMO.

Still, SD is better than both in my estimation.

It took Reggie till about mid-season to realize that he couldn't dart to the corner, make a move and motor up the sideline. Worked like a champ in the PAC 10. Probably wouldn't have worked in the SEC. Definitely won't work in the NFL. Now he understands. Once decoy, now lethal weapon.

With all due respect to Philly, ya'll were better off with Garcia. I've been watching Stallworth since he was at UT. There are 2 constants of the universe, the speed of light, and Stallworth is either hurt or about to get hurt.

In addition to shoring up the receivers and beginning the year with all the stars healthy, (unlike last year) the Saints defense is the best since the "Dome Patrol." Pick-ups from the Bengals and your Eagles have strengthened the linebacking corp. Last year's defensive admittedly weak backfield is now stout with additions of a Colts starting corner, a Bengals starting safety, 2 high draft picks at corner and stud safety Roman Harper back from injury at 100%.

The interior if the D line is now so deep we could rotate players like LSU's Chinese Bandits of years ago. The only team to improve as much as the Saints is the Pats, who may have done better.

Peyton better cinch up his jock Sept 6. The Saints are coming.

SD is damn good. If it wasn't for the "Marty-ball" factor they may very well have gone the distance last season. The Pats were just that little bit better that day, same way the Colts were just that little bit better than NE in the AFC Championship game (plus Brady was just horrid that game, which didn't help).

you guys are talking about pro wrestling, right?

oh, no wait, basketball? Oh, I forgot, that's rigged too.

hmm....cricket?

The 49ers had a great off-season.

The Pats just got EXTREMELY lucky in that game. That game was over, one of the flukier fumble plays ive ever seen saved the Pats. Plain and simple.

As for the saints, i stand by my comments. They wont be top 16 in the NFL this year in overall defense.

The saints 3-4 defense of the early nineties was infinitely better than this one. That group was voted the greatest linebacking corps EVER.

Seriously, this defense isn't even close to that unit.

Never count out the Saints because of Drew Brees. Purdue was a regular 2-3 wins a season team until Drew came along. Purdue then became a 8-9 win team. He is quite the talent. He always has been a winner and that will never change.

I'll bet a Chicago pizza for any NO (or TN) dish that the Bears will have a better record than the Saints.
Go Pats--hopefully Brady doesn't get hurt.
Anyhoo, Rex is calming down and will have a bit more control. I'm saying this after one day of camp. Up for the bet Mule?
Christian.

They will be the surprise team in the AFC this year.

Red Baron 07-27-2007 07:51 PM

The Saints D will be just fine and will be in the top half of the NFC. They've added several quality frre agents on D in addition to signing their big studs from last year. In fact, unless Brees goes down they will go to the playoffs and represent the NFC South.

Mule 07-28-2007 06:40 AM

Bears could have a better record. Look at their division, Crippled children's hospital, Little sisters of the poor. But sexy Rexy is still flaky & you guys lost ground in the off season. Remember, Tank Johnson made the play that kept Seatle out of NO for the NFC championship. So I'll still take the bet and I don't even like Uno.

gassy 07-28-2007 07:33 AM

sweet.

I hear Al Gore is demanding the NFL buy carbon offset credits from his company due to the methane produced by all those big guys running around as much as they do.

Nostones, how do you pass time, Redbook magazine? The Communist Manifesto?
