EAA Fly In pics
My battery ran out so I don't have as many as I would have liked.:(
There were a TON of WWII fighters- http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5990/p1010503vw0.jpg http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/2158/p1010507me1.jpg http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/3529/p1010528uw0.jpg http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/3893/p1010546wt2.jpg One big jet (C5) did take off, manuvers, and a very short landing. http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/3187/p1010580ib2.jpg |
Nice, thanks for posting.
FYI, that is a C-17 pictured, not a C-5. |

Nice, wish I was there. For the 4th year in a row, I had to turn down my grandfather's invite. Damn you summer classes!

Here are a few more.
On the way there as a flight of two just off the shoreline of Lake Michigan near Chicago. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186423020.jpg Looking out my other window. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186423097.jpg I like round engines especially Cessna 165 Airmasters. There were two there. I got to see one of them on amphibious floats land at the Oshkosh sea plane base one day! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186423274.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186423351.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186423474.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186423535.jpg a few more to follow.... |
Some random shots including the opening day free Beach Boys concert.

Anybody catch the Bonanza flyover? As my employer, I felt they should have let me participate. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to agree.:(

Are you talking about the mass Bonanza arrival to Oshkosh (probably 100 all arriving at the same time together), or the Beechcraft anniversary flybys? I saw both. Groups of Cessnas, Moonies and Stinsons also made large group arrivals this year. It is fun watching guys land in semi-formation who often have little formation flying experience!:) |
Great pics Tim - thanks!
|
The mass arrival was what I was thinking of. You echo my concerns Tim, it's a miracle there were not any incidents. That many aircraft in formation, being flown by pilots that don't have formation experience, a bit scary.
Anyone see the P51 accident? I'm sure that put a damper on the show. Were they real P51s, or replicas? |

Obviously the loss of life for the second pilot is of primary concern, but it's always a shame to see such a rare and important airplane damaged or destroyed.
|
What is that 3 engine bird?
|
We attended a couple of days after the accident. I didn't hear about it until after I went. In hindsight I thought it a bit odd that there was no evidence or commentary at Whitmann Field. On the other hand, what are they going to do? Sadly, there seems to be an incident at or related to the Fly In every year.
Some radial shots for Tim- http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3092/p1010527yv9.jpg http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/5756/p1010531uo0.jpg http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3177/p1010537px2.jpg http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/9063/p1010543gy1.jpg And one of the little woman hiding from the sun- http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/3995/p1010513cs3.jpg |
