My battery ran out so I don't have as many as I would have liked.:(

There were a TON of WWII fighters-

One big jet (C5) did take off, manuvers, and a very short landing.

Nice, thanks for posting.

FYI, that is a C-17 pictured, not a C-5.

Yeah, not sure why I typed C-5. Must have Vettes on the brain.:)

Nice, wish I was there. For the 4th year in a row, I had to turn down my grandfather's invite. Damn you summer classes!

Here are a few more.

On the way there as a flight of two just off the shoreline of Lake Michigan near Chicago.

Looking out my other window.

I like round engines especially Cessna 165 Airmasters. There were two there. I got to see one of them on amphibious floats land at the Oshkosh sea plane base one day!

Anybody catch the Bonanza flyover? As my employer, I felt they should have let me participate. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to agree.:(

Are you talking about the mass Bonanza arrival to Oshkosh (probably 100 all arriving at the same time together), or the Beechcraft anniversary flybys? I saw both. Groups of Cessnas, Moonies and Stinsons also made large group arrivals this year. It is fun watching guys land in semi-formation who often have little formation flying experience!:)

Don Plumley 08-06-2007 10:38 PM

Great pics Tim - thanks!

onewhippedpuppy 08-07-2007 05:17 AM

The mass arrival was what I was thinking of. You echo my concerns Tim, it's a miracle there were not any incidents. That many aircraft in formation, being flown by pilots that don't have formation experience, a bit scary.

Anyone see the P51 accident? I'm sure that put a damper on the show. Were they real P51s, or replicas?

The lead mustang "Stang" that did not get completely destroyed, was the real deal. The rear "razorback" mustang that got destroyed, was built as an experimental, but was very close to original configuration (at least that is what I was told). I left the day prior, so I missed it.

onewhippedpuppy 08-07-2007 06:49 AM

Obviously the loss of life for the second pilot is of primary concern, but it's always a shame to see such a rare and important airplane damaged or destroyed.

What is that 3 engine bird?

SLO-BOB 08-07-2007 10:48 AM

We attended a couple of days after the accident. I didn't hear about it until after I went. In hindsight I thought it a bit odd that there was no evidence or commentary at Whitmann Field. On the other hand, what are they going to do? Sadly, there seems to be an incident at or related to the Fly In every year.

Some radial shots for Tim-
