Oh no, thank you for thanking me!

I am thinking of having a bier for my peer at the pier...or I may go with a peer to get a beer near the bier of another peer. Of course I never get any breaks with my brakes... but isn't that the breaks?

C, I'll see you by the sea, si?:D

Famous poet. I know "Jack" about poets but I know it is never written like that. He insisted it be written "e.e. cumming" Friggin poets!:D

Here's a poem by e.e. - which sort of reminds me of the boys on this board:

the boys i mean are not refined

the boys i mean are not refined
they go with girls who buck and bite
they do not give a f uck for luck
they hump them thirteen times a night

one hangs a hat upon her tit
one carves a cross on her behind
they do not give a **** for wit
the boys i mean are not refined

they come with girls who bite and buck
who cannot read and cannot write
who laugh like they would fall apart
and masturbate with dynamite

the boys i mean are not refined
they cannot chat of that and this
they do not give a fart for art
they kill like you would take a piss

they speak whatever's on their mind
they do whatever's in their pants
the boys i mean are not refined
they shake the mountains when they dance

Didn't he sign his poetry "e e cummings" without capitals or punctuation? A quick web search shows several different ways. I thought he was making a point about simplifying the language, but I may be mis-remembering.

On the subject of grammar and punctuation; I am no expert BUT there are a few things I read here and all over the place that DRIVE ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In no particular order:

The indiscriminate subsitution of "then" and "than" - I've even seen this in national publications. Are you effing KIDDING me? You don't know these two words have entirely diffrent meanings? My car is faster "then" yours?

"Your" in love? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. That is supposed to be a contraction of "you are", hence you're.

I've got to repair the "breaks" on my car. Again, two entirely different words with different meaning.

And when anything is said to people that make these errors, they react as though YOU have a problem for being so uptight. Like understanding the language, having an education and using it and not being so lazy as to use poor grammar and words improperly is a flaw of character. Yikes.

Okay, I have vented now. I feel better. I think I'll take a brake now. It's all you'res. Than I'll go get a beer!:D

Thank you! One of my biggest, no, in fact the biggest pet peeve of mine is people who can't spell correctly or show correct punctuation and grammar. As a staff writer on my college newspaper, I can't tell you how many mistakes went out in every issue, even though we had an "editor"

I even found a left-out word in a Reuters news article today...geez, what is the world coming to? And I especially love it when I find typos in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today, and yes, I have found some!

My dear girl: this is not how you should be spending your adolescence.

Life is short: you should be carping the diem.

I thought Had and Had Had were two chicks.

John, while Jim had had Had, had had Had Had. Had Had had had a better effect on the teacher.
