San Fran should just succeed from the USA!!!
If anyone invades, or a lost terrorist (they don't want to hurt their biggest supporters) blows something up or a earthquate hits, I say the military should not be used to help them:mad:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298039,00.html Marines Barred From Filming Commercial on Streets of San Francisco They're the strong and the proud, but the Marines aren't free to stand on the streets of San Francisco. The Silent Drill Platoon of the U.S. Marine Corps wasn't allowed to be filmed Sept. 11 on California Street in San Francisco for a segment of its new advertising campaign, a Marine spokesman told FOXNews.com. Instead, the elite group took its austere display to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for the final segment of its "America's Marines" TV commercial. The group is on a two-month nationwide tour as part of the campaign. Stefanie Coyote, the executive director of the San Francisco Film Commission, the group that denied the permit, was unavailable for comment Tuesday. Her office referred calls to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's press office, which did not immediately return a request for comment. Coyote told KGO-TV that "traffic control was the issue." Click here to read KGO-TV's report. The film commission did allow the Marines' production unit to film the street without Marines. They'll be superimposed in the spot, KGO-TV reports. Meanwhile, the Silent Drill Platoon continued its campaign, filming a portion of the commercial Monday in New York's Times Square during the early morning rush hour. The platoon is documenting its journey on the Web site www.Our.Marines.com and plans to film portions of the commercial in Sligo, Ky., on Oct. 6, in the Grand Canyon and at Hoover Dam on Oct. 22 and in the Rocky Mountains on Oct. 30, according to the group's online schedule. The public is invited to attend. |
I saw that. If the Marines keep the country free, why can't they film a commercial on a public street?
Don't tell me it is about traffic control, the gay pride thing shuts the city down for a day and this is 4 guys walking down the street carrying flags isn't it? sorry, 3 dozen guys who could flip that rifle around in ways that would make you think gravity was broken. Halloween in the Castro is fun, even for a hetro dude, but traffic does not flow freely. I really don't care for Gavin Newsome at all. |
At least the Supervisors voted 7 to 3 to let the Blue Angels fly over the City during the annual Fleet Week. All is not lost. Yet.

Where do these people come from???????
After watching a few nights of Ken Burn's War, I cannot understand why people act the way they do. Now that I say that, I wonder why a lot of people in SF are what they are...... Regardless of what the derelicts in SF think, I know that most Americans are extremely greatful to the military. Give the military what they need (asking for some time on a public street isn't unreasonable) or have a nice cup of "STFU"! |
so far alabama and FLA have weighted in. any other backward ass states wanna pile on?

Are you saying that you support this??? |
Don't get your cashmere sweater in a wad pretty boy….. you're liable to get a hang-nail!
How were you able to form an opinion on us "backward ass" states? Did your mommy think the violence on the Beverly Hillbillies was at an acceptable level for you to watch and learn all you wanted to know about the southern states? Your momma must be proud to have such a smart son like you! PS - How do you like your cup of STFU served? |

Just waiting for the next quake.... then wonder if the Marines will be allowed to help pick up the pieces?

By the way, Toby, it WEIGHED, not weighted, and use capitals where appropriate. Tell me you can spell better than people from these supposedly backward states.

once again the west coast is the center of the universe and anyone from the south is backward ass. we prefer to be called bass ackward. how about you stay where you are and we stay where we are. we couldn't handle intellectual elites like yourself ruining our simple lives running around. we'll just sit here on the porch, strumming the banjo, waiting for sister/mama to get home from Walmart.

I am from California and currently stationed in Virginia. Many of us who have served and those who support us and any other American that has traveled this great land understands that the diversity of our great land is what sets us apart as strong and unique.
I was raised in Southern California and have seen the state decay for every year of my adult life, especially since the mid seventies. I am a transplant from Wisconsin, my dad was a Marine transferred to El Toro and we stayed. What is so interesting is the influx of folks from all over that have come to California and how in at least the past two decades the attitude of those imigrants have changed and have changed the California Government and Culture. I remember in my early years of college how diverse and accepting it seemed to be when meeting folks from outside the state who had relocated to California. It seemed to me to be a very accepting society and people were welcomed. There was the rule of law, or at least it seemed as such. Orange County was strong middle of the road conservative. What seems to have happened is that the California that I knew and the California that the old timers knew and created has been subplannted with an arrogant class of folks that have degraded California to such a point that the term "Golden State" is more about the attitude of greed and arogance that hope and a chance to make it. What is really troubling, at least to me is the idiots are not observant enough or so arrogant that the don't even notice the decay. Many of the folks who I grew up with have left the state, and many have relocated to what some Frisco folks would deride as something beneath the "standard???". So, take their arrogance for a grain of salt and let them figure it out what has caused a once great state to so degrade. As for me, I just don't know if I want to be around there anymore to try and help fix it. Virginia, Texas, Arizona, the Carolinas and so many other places offer the hope and stability that California is so lacking. |

I will pile on. Does Ohio qualify as one of the "backward ass states"? What percentage of the population of a state or city has to be gay and anti-US military before it can be considered enlightened by fine upstanding citizens such as Toby? |
Frisicans always have been snobs who thought their ***** didn't stink. Now they are just complete Liberal nut jobs as well. They live in a delusional world that is so detached from reality that it boggles the mind. I just have to shake my head, why they would be so willing to dishonor a 230 year old traditon that has done nothing but protect their sorry a$$es. A tradition that has sacrificed so much to give them the right to deny a simple request. Unfortunately in it will probably be that tradition that will sacrifice themselves again to bail their sorry a$$es out next time. In my opinion maybe the next time we should just let the wolves have the Frisicans and be done with them.

I lived in San Francisco for 2 years after moving there from NYC for work. I could not believe what was going on around me, it was surreal. The liberals will kill the city eventually and the homeless will take over...it's a shame, I am glad that I moved back to East coast

Great post Dan.
Just another example of the "enlightened and open-minded" California. We love new ideas, and welcome alternative lifestyles. Wait.....that's not our way......that's not how we think........you bigot.......you racist........you warmonger............get out, you're not welcome here. Another backwards ignorant redneck checking in (aka average American to a California resident). |

Hey wait a minute I am from CA and I ahhh welll come to think of it your right. U are a ignorant backwoods hick. |
It is Truely Sad if it wasn't Frisco's Choice
Matt,
I do get tired of the Frisco high and mighty attitude. It gets old. If I may be so immature as to shoot a dig at the earlier respondents from the city by the bay, it seems to me that more often than not the posts from San Francisco are either to defend outragious actions or to attempt to denegrate others with non-social progressive attitudes. Another observation from watching California suffer under the "enlightenment" of the far left, not liberals and not democrats, but "social progressives" is the unmitigated hypocrisy of their claim to be "tolerant" when they make a silly comment refering to "bass ackwards" states. That is a whole lot of gaul! Don't get me wrong, as I love so much about California, social progressive radicals are not one of them. Secondly, California is no better or no worse than anywhere else, and to project such a thought seems to be the statement of an ignorant person, especially a Friscoite talking about Frisco as if it is heaven, cause it ain't (but it is a beautiful place as are many other areas of our country and the world). Hey, visit all of the states and you will love them all! But I digress. DanB Quote:
