SOLO saved my butt today

On the way to work this morning, the freeway got backed up so I got off in Lake Forest, took some side roads, as I crested a hill, in a curve, the radar went off, I HIT the brakes, I was only doing about 10 over, started looking around and there he was, I saw him put the gun in the back, hop on the bike and pull out, he got the black car behind me, not my red 911. It paid for itself this morning.

Be careful, all the rookies are just getting out of the academy now. They're all fired up, freshly brainwashed and eager to prove their worth with overzealous issuance of tickets. I have this on good authority from my neighbor, who's ex-L.E.

The RD enthusiasts rail against the Solo S2, but it has paid for itself many times in my cars. I like the cordless option, since I need to be stealthy in radar-detector-ban VA. But recently I've started using my blue display X50 more, since it's much dimmer at night and VA cops haven't noticed it in the two times I've had it running when they pulled me over for other stuff. They don't confiscate them here anymore and the ticket for having one is cheaper than the cheapest speeding ticket.

Glad to hear it saved your butt. I was not so lucky this summer. I was in Southwestern CO visiting a fellow Pelican and enjoying the late afternoon ride home down a secondary road. Straight road, not a car in sight, windows down, relaxed listening to the music, doin' 'bout 78 in a 65. Just as I crest the hill, another car crests at the same time and the Solo goes off! Talk about interupting a nice vibe! Well, I tapped the brakes, but no good - he got me. Not time whatsoever to react.

Funny thing is that I had been driving well within reason all over SW CO for the better part of a week. Figures, the one time I was a little heavy on the gas...

A post I made in the PCA-SBR forum.

Quote:
Early Sunday morning we headed to Camarillo Airport to watch the Autocross so I could take some video and still shots. When we got there we were informed by Richard that it would be delayed until next Sunday.

Since we were already out and about, we decided to drive up the coast for breakfast. As we got closer to Santa Barbara I decided...Why not drive to Solvang the back way up the 154. To my amazed delight, there was not one car ahead of us the whole way there. Just after the tall bridge, I noticed a lookout was coming up. I pulled in a noticed a man standing near a truck looking a little weird. So I did a full circle and drove straight out. ( Psycho killer? Who knows. We're going to breakfast) I pulled out and felt...What a nice straightaway. I accelerated briskly up to around 80, when my Escort SOLO S2 went off. KA KA KA KA! I decelerated to around 60 and cruised by a white CHP parked off on a side road.

For the rest of the way toward Solvang and even after breakfast, we must have been saved another 5-6 times. We were doing no more than 80 at any given time, but that machine is my friend. It's not as accurate as the Valentine 1, but it's paid for itself many many times over.

Like my dad often told me..."Always wear protection. It will save you a ton of money." I finally figured out he was talking about Radar Detectors.

So Dean where was this hideout? I've seen the CHP get creative on the 73 toll road a few times, even hiding out on the on ramp at the bottom of the hill going towards the SNA airport on a motorcycle.

Sooner wouldn't have been any better, it still got him before he got me.

I have a V-1 and it has saved me numerous times.

It's like any exciting activity - use protection!
