Pink Floyd

Just popped on Animals.

Have the iPod hooked up to external speakers on my desk.

Tracks are mixed perfectly.

1st track sounds like it's originating from a point in space about 4 feet directly in front of me even though the speakers are only 2 feet away at 11 and 1 o'clock.

Floyd is awesome.

I'm going to see "The Australian Pink Floyd" next week, I'm such a huge fan that I'll go see a tribute band.

Floyd, the name itself stands alone. The funny thing is my 17year old has gotten into it and has now stolen all my cd's. She was warned not to touch my lp's. I have a quad copy of dark side.................unopened. :)

And after all we're only ordinary men.

Pigs has some great lyrics and Floyd is the best headphone music ever made.

I got the new David Gilmour DVD last week. It was recorded live at The Royal Alber Hall last summer. I have never seen a better DVD. Of course I had just finished up my new music/video viewing room. 4 satelites, 9 speaker cabs, 2500 watts of 7.1 surround. He played many of the classic Floyd #'s and his newest Cd. The mix is superb, the light show incredible, and Royal Albert Hall beautiful. Other than that.

Where in TX are you?

I'm moving down here to the Flower Mound/Highland Village area.

Nice area. Lived in FM/Carrolton/Grapevine area for a long time.

Listened to Floyd for years and do not plan on stopping anytime soon. No one even close to replace them...

Man, I was obsessed with Floyd in high school/college.

Did anyone ever solve the puzzle in Division Bell?

Aerkuld 09-27-2007 05:49 PM

Don't be too suprised that kids, particularly teens like it. My little one likes it already and he's only 7. He always likes it on in the car.

Heard this today on the news:

A Europe-wide poll has revealed the people want a Pink Floyd reunion tour. Twenty-six percent of 5,000 census takers said that they would like to see a full-scale version of what PF fans were briefly teased with at 2005’s Live 8 concert. Unfortunately, Floyd guitarist David Gilmour told us he doesn’t think a reunion is going to happen. Rounding out the top five in the survey were Abba, Guns N’ Roses, The Jam and Talking Heads.

Me personally, after having gone to Pulse, and watching Live 8, they left at the right time.

Try alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1970s, alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1980s, alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.bootlegs and finally alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.blues for lots and lots of Pink Floyd albums, live concerts and solo recordings by David Gilmour. The tapes from the early live concerts are really cool!

Pink Floyd is the only great band, ever.

PM me when you get here, I live in Highland Village. Depending on when you get moved, you may even get a chance to see the result of my engine building skills...

I'll always remember listening to The Wall for hours on an 8-track through a big set of headphones.

Times have changed.

Haven't bought anything by them since the Final Cut... did recently watch a movie that had Roger Waters as the sound track, and it sounded *lots* like Floyd... but I've not bought/listened to any of his stuff....

So... which should I go with? Post -Cut Floyd or Waters? Any recommendations?

Normy 09-27-2007 07:44 PM

Man, I was into Pink Floyd in the 1980's. On one or two or 14 occasions, I actually attended "Pink Floyd: The Wall" stoned.

Hmm. Funny thing: I found that the obscure conclusions that I came to when non-stoned were no different from the ones that I obtained while watching Pink Floyd stoned off my ass. The Floyd made no difference at all- I was just stoned. And hammers marching in line just looked kind of silly, as they do right now, tonight.

I guess I just don't understand hippies-
