Dipping sauces..
I am a chronic "dipper" and hence I must share my latest discovery.
The wife and I had to grab a quick dinner last night on the way to a birthday party so we hit the bar at the local Outback(yeah I know, but it was quick and no line:D). Anyway they had Seared Ahi Tuna on the appetizer list and we ordered it. The Tuna was fine, but they had this white creamy wasabi/soy dipping sauce that blew me away. When I think of soy I always think thin and watery, but this was like a creamy ranch-like consistency. How have I missed this? What are your favorite dipping sauces? |
Famous Dave's Devil's Spit
TGI Friday's Jack Daniel's Sauce Ranch Mayonnaise |
1. Garlic Butter
2. Herb olive oil. |
Another favorite is Franks Red Hot as a dip for popcorn. try it, it will change the way you eat popcorn forever:)
I use it straight but you can heat with butter for "Buffalo style" dip. |
Another simple one.
Malt vinegar for chicken mmmmmmmmmmm |
Mayo has to be the nastiest schit ever invented. I'm partial to certain hot sauces (particularly Thai or Indian), soy or BBQ type sauces. Anything gloppy and white. . . eww.
|
Define "gloppy" :)

What's the name of the spicy Thai sauce for eggrolls. Kind of clear with chunks of peppers. More sweet hot than sweet n sour. Good stuff....

I dip chicken nuggets in a mix of mayonnaise and BBQ sauce... So it's red and gloppy. |

Try it on your eggs in the morning.

Inglehoffer "Sweet Hot" mustard on Chicken Fingers, fries, or instead of wing sauce. It's kind of a high-brow version of McD's "hot mustard" sauce, with a little more "nose tingle" like you get from Chinese Hot Mustard. AWESOME.

Chipotle dipping sauce

If you like hot there's a great one I tried called "Black Widow". I recommend only a few drops in a stew or similar dish though. It's very, very strong.

Len,
If you like vinegar on chicken, you should go to an asian food store and buy a small bottle of their vineger with the garlic, onions & little peppers in it. Great stuff. Only a little spicy & great taste. You have to poke a hole in the bottle top to be able to shake it out. |
In Thai..Vietnamese restaurants you will probably get a dipping sauce like this... though both cuisines have a number of dipping sauces..
note the prohibitive cost lol BTW an ex who was a chef in a Thai restaurant showed me this http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1191214725.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1191214768.jpg |
thats 99 cents.. the pic looks better on my monitor

For me, the greatness of the sauce is that there are an infinite number of them out there.
That being said, RedHot got me through many years of questionable food in college. Put enough red hot on anything, and it will be alright. |

Mayonaise and Dijon Mustard mixed together. Dip your Fries in it.
