A bit of MLB false advertising...

I'm a bit peeved. Short story: we just moved, and haven't taken the time to hook up a TV connection. Not really missing it, either. But my in-laws are in town to visit for 10 days, and Dad's a true Red Sox fanatic. So I thought I'd buy the $10 "2007 Post-Season Package" from the MLB website, so he could watch the games (so I thought) on the computer. Only AFTER purchasing access, did I find out that video for all games is blacked out in the entire United States! Huh? WTF?

The webpage that sells the package has a video demo (presumably to show you the quality of the connection). And emblazoned across the top is a statement that says all games of the post-season, until the end of the World Series are accessible. Now, going back through the fine print of the contract that no one reads because it's crammed scroll-style into a 1" high box, there's no mention of any video blackout crapola. It's only after you purchase the package and try to access it that a screen pops up stating that the blackout restrictions apply...to the entire freakin' country. Is it just me, or does this make no sense? You think they'd mention something like blacking out the entire country somewhere in the literature before you purchase the plan.

So I immediately called MLB and asked for a refund. Guy (who sounded half-asleep) took my email address and said the refund would be applied in 7-10 days. Of course, if that doesn't happen, the fine print I reviewed mentioned that refunds would only be given within the first 10 days of purchase. Convenient, huh? Might have to get AmEx to reverse charges if the refund doesn't come through.
