His shop phone has a slightly disturbing greeting on it and I seem to be out of date with all my other contact numbers. Anyone talked to him since Friday?

I get by his shop fairly frequently. Was there last week. He has a couple of projects going.
What was the shop message? His sense of humor is almost as dry as mine.... |

Some medical emergency and being out of the shop for a couple days. Not like him at all.

I have been out of the country, but I know he has been complaining of coughing/chest issues. I hope all is well with Kevin.

Thanks for the concern guys (and Dr.) I fell off the map for a minute there. Let me tell you whats up.
Last Monday evening I noticed a very tiny welt on my stomach. It wasn't even the size of a pencil eraser but it burned a little when it was touched. Tuesday I woke to find some swelling and redness in the area. I figured I had picked up a sliver or something but couldn't see anything in the wound. I applied some warm compress and started to pay close attention to it. Wednesday the redness darkened and the swelling grew. Thursday I woke to the most excruciating pain you can imagine. I took myself to an urgent care clinic. I thought that perhaps I had been bitten by a spider or something. The good Dr. walked in removed the bandage and very calmly says "Well thats not a spider bite". He brought another Dr. into the room and they both poked and squeezed and finally one of them said "What we have here is M.R.S.A. and we're going to turn you over to someone who can help". Things start getting a little hectic. I'm taken to another Dr.s office here in the valley and he confirms the diagnoses. He says the only way to treat it is to open up the infected area and clean it out and start a treatment with antibiotics. Thursday pretty much was a blurr from there. Friday, Saturday, Sunday I was in bed asleep. I returned this morning for further treatment and the Dr. says he's not satisfied with my progress and will have to go back in and do it all over again. That will be tomorrow morning at 9:30. The site is on my belt line so any movement causes the would to flex and the pain is almost beyond description. I have no idea how long this is going to take to run it's course but I know I'm ready for it to be over with. The only half way good news is that the Dr. owns a Porsche so maybe I'll be able to work off some of the expense as I don't have a dimes worth of insurance.

So what is it? How'd you get it? I told you to stay away from those nasty tranny hookers on Sepulveda Boulevard.

My 2 year old son had this in July-August before the big outbreak. Took them until after it was healed ( and 3 ER trips, 2 mtg's with specialists, and countless visits to the ex-Pediatricians) before they could figure out what it was. Seems that they weren't looking for it. They had initially diagnosed it as possible cat scratch fever, but the labs came back negative. Good luck and be patient. His grew back 3 times before they decided to remove a little tissue with it. I ad to unpack and repack the wound daily. We had to force feed him the most nasty tasting/smelling antibiotics with a syringe. Needless to say most of it ended up in my face along with his lunch. Treat yourself right. Do not try to come back to quick for fear of a recurrence.

Let me be clear There will be NO necrotizing of MY fasciitis or any other parts for that matter. The girls at the Rhino would be soooooo dissapointed.
Truth of the matter is that I haven't ever even stepped foot into the Spearmint Rhino.....but I know a couple Pelicans who have.

Jeez, Kevin! My wife works as a neo-natal intensive care nurse and she's always very concerned about any sort of Staph infection. Take good care of yourself and don't rush it please.
