OT: Value of '54 356?

This car belongs to a close friend's parents. I haven't seen it up close in a few years, but from what I remember, it needs some work. Any idea on value? It looks fairly complete, and I'm thinking the wheels might be worth something.

The reason I ask is that the owner comes from a strong motorsports family (Frank Monise, a former SCCA champion, is a close relation, and someone who I used to watch race at Riverside when I was in high school) and I would hate to see them take a bath on this. It seems that I am the only "Porsche person" they know, so I was sent this link today:

Honest opinions on the car's value would be appreciated. PM if you'd like.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim, that's quite a project your friend has there. Does the engine turn? Pics of rust and full description are very important.

My recommendation would be to test it on eBay with as many pictures as possible and a very high reserve. Your friend will probably learn a lot about the car from questions alone, and when the bidding ends, contacting the high bidder to negotiate a sale seems reasonable.

Problem is that sitting for 15 years, every single system will have to be gone through to get it just to drivable status.

Wheels look like American Racing Torq-Thrusts. Cool wheels and fairly desirable to the right people. I may be putting a set on my E.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, good luck!

Some are getting pretty pricey! (Earlier car but interesting price given the condition!)
