imho seeing TE should be a "bucket list" event for anyone who even remotely loves guitar playing, or even music in general. I've seen a lot of great players over the years (both known and unknown) and I don't think I've ever seen such a combination of chops and sheer joy on stage.

I have much respect for Tom. He has a BS and MS from MIT in mechanical engineering, built his own studio (not purchased the gear and put it together, built his own board and much equipment), and recorded the greater part of the first Boston album solo in his basement.

I heard somewhere that Brian May has a PhD in Astrophysics... He interrupted his education for his career with Queen, and completed his Doctorate after Freddy Mercurys death

My new favorite is Joe Bonamassa. Check out the DVD of his "Live at the Royal Albert Hall"!
He's unbelievable! |

FYI:
Starz and/or Encore (cable TV) is playing a pretty cool guitar documentary this month called "It might get loud" with Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page. Worth checking out/Tivo-ing. ![]() |

Deserving of consideration ...
It is widely quoted that Eric Clapton is on record as stating that Albert Lee is, in his opinion, "the greatest guitarist in the world." Emmylou Harris has stated that Lee is "a brilliant guitar player. His sound is unmistakable—often emulated, never equaled. When Saint Peter asks me to chronicle my time down here on earth, I'll be able to say (with pride if that's allowed) that for a while I played rhythm guitar in a band with Albert Lee."
Albert Lee deserves, at minimum, to be mentioned in the same breath with all the others here and puts most of them on the trailer in my opinion. |
