Man of Steel Survives Horrific Collision

I'll be doing Searches of various kinds, as I will be dealing with insurance companies for a bit. I don't like insurance companies. Even if I were a conservative, I wouldn't like them.

At any rate, I was rear-ended, HARD, at a stop light last night. By a Dodge 1500 Quad. I'm probably lucky his vehicle did not come over the to of mine. I think the impact moved the engine (second and fourth gear do not engage) and bent the tub (there is a slight crease at the upper right corner of the rear window frame).

I've got a question. How come I cannot seem to find the "printable version" button on my searched (insurance advice) threads?

Sorry about the car, but very happy to hear you're OK.

Bummer. It was just last weekend Jim was out busting through the cones in the rain at the autocross course.

I've printed threads before. No "printable" version. I just hit the print button. It has always worked fine.

You could be in for a long, ugly battle. I hope not. Keep us informed.

If you're still without the car next spring, do you want to co-drive my car?

Supe, click on thread tools. It's the first selection on the drop-down menu. Sorry about your accident. See a doc about your back/neck. Make sure no kryponite snuck into your system.

I was hit in a similar manner about 11 years ago. A woman in a minivan rear-ended me so hard it folded the rear-view mirrors on the doors in. Police estimated she wa straveling 35 mph when she hit me. The car was driveable, but I lost 2nd, 4th and reverse gears. Her minivan was hauled off on a flatbed.

Glad to hear you're OK.

Sorry to hear about it, and since it happened to me as well, though very lightly, make sure you get a proper insurance quote. There will be a lot of damage that you can't see. Ended up doing a lot of the work myself since I settled for too little.

Tough break, glad to know that you were not injured. I've got a 1500 Quad and they don't stop so well.

Lightened SC's stop better than Dodge 1500 quads. Note to self........

Some say I will be sore in another day or two. At least. The officer was concerned.

I don't think there will be any repairing of this vehicle. As I say, there is a slight bend where the roof meets the C-pillar at the edge of the rear window frame. I've heard this is an indication the tub is bent now. Second and fourth are not available. I think this means the engine and tranny are in a new location. It was hit HARD. Poor thing. I sure liked that Smoky Quartz color.

There are cars out there with race suspensions already installed, and maybe a 3.6. For the money they are a real bargain if that's your cup of tea. It is mine.

But in the meantime, I will have the insurance company(s) to deal with. That will likely be the worst part. I rebuilt the engine a few years ago, and JW freshened the tranny more recently. Like all my jalopies, this car was getting younger under my care. It was fun to drive. But hey......it was just a car. Perspective is important.

Thanks for the reliable, friendly support I get from you guys. In spite of my sharp-tongued remarks here.

We've learned to treat you ...well, like you do us ! That's what scares the heck out of me in my 911 (and m/c too) particularly with the "wannabe racers" and tailgaiters. There's a WHOLE bunch that are faster, but few can stop as quickly EVEN if they are paying attention. You might want to get yourself checked out "just in case", and I really mean that. In the news here recently, some "tough old bird" was in an accident, but didn't seek treatment (as was reputedly his nature), and didn't make it after complications set in a few weeks later. Look at the bright side...from what I hear about the debates, John Edwards might be at available .

I have been hit from behind three times in the last three months, people following too closely in bad weather, people talking on cell phones, truck drivers that don't think they need to share the road. No major damage, but really, a lot of drivers are morons.
