"Blade Runner: The Final Cut"

Being a huge fan of this movie, I'd be up for seeing it in a theater. Apparently, the "Director's Cut" wasn't really that, and this one is. Interesting that more light will be shed on Deckard's true nature...

Never seen it. I do have some of your baseball cards from the Phillies though. :D

One of my all-time favorites. :)

If you like Sci-Fi, you should check it out, Mark. Probably my favorite. Comes out on DVD 12/18 with 2 bonus discs, too.

I can sign those cards for you, if you like...

I heard it comes as a scaled Voight Kampf machine

That solves one of my Christmas shopping dilemmas. Thanks!

The Director's cut was much better than the '82 release, but still, I never got a good sense of Batty and the others, who they were and why they were.

I seem to recall they were worker androids gone bad, who escaped the planet they were on and took hold of a ship that brought them back to L.A.

As to the article - yes, it's correct - As I recall, "Do Androids Dream..." is set in S.F., with no reference to "blade runners." And Deckard seems somewhat decadent; sort of a futuristic, washed-up alcoholic sense.

I'm going to find the book, read it again, then check out this latest release. It is one of my all-time favorite movies for all it doesn't say.

Great movie, and I'm not really a fan of the genre. LA of the future was modelled on Tokyo. When I first arrived in Tokyo, I wandered around amazed at the similarities. It wasn't raining though.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1196459227.jpg

I loved the original film, as shown in the cinema. Many people disliked the narration, but I thought it fit with the feel of the movie. Sure, the 'happy ending' was a bit much but it gave the film an ending that also fit for the 1980's.

The directors cut left me feeling like something had been lost from the original release. Something like.... key scenes.

Sounds like the Final Cut will be what I wanted all along, exploring Decker's possible pasts.

one of my favorites...saw it the first time on a saturday afternoon in july in lawton oklahoma in 1982......25 years ago! never forgot....really like the noirish nature of the movie in light of it being about a 100 degrees outside!!!

Don't care when its on, or which version, I'll watch it.

Add another copy to my collection:
VHS
12" laser disc

My ex- was working at the studio when it was being made. I walked the set. The amount of stuff that was created that never made it to the screen was staggering.

Director's cut #1 is the best version to date. The new one is a must-see for me.

I need to see that movie again.
I saw it back in the day and it still impresses me how ahead of the times it was - and how much a product of the time .

I listen to the soundtrack *every night* before bed. Sometimes more than once.

For the last eleven years...

My most favorite dystopian film...I love how he sees the pic of the room on the computer and can zoom in on stuff--back then that was so cool. The scene with his fingers thru the wall still stick with me. Gotta watch it again.

I recall the soundtrack was outstanding. I bought the album and it wasn't even close to what the movie soundtrack was. Loved the movie and especially the scene with the stripper when she laid an ass whoopin on Decker.

dd74 11-30-2007 04:08 PM

Deck's gun was cool. Remember that pan shot of him holding it, with the flashing red lights?

That is until Rutger (Batty) "held" Deck's hand for Deck.

"This is for Leon..." (CRACK!)
"This is for Pris..." (CRACK!)

Wasn't Steve Carlton the Phillies pitcher with that sniffing tick?

The Director's Cut that I rented did not have the narration or the Vangelis (sp?) soundtrack. Alternate ending sucked.

It took me awile, (VHS) but I found the original, which is one of my all time favorites.

Is there a new D.C.?
