Hyundai Genesis

Lexus copies Mercedes, Hyundai copies Lexus...the circle is complete.

How much is the option to remove any trace of the word Hyundai off the car?

Car looks quite nice in the Mercedes/Lexus sedan style, but I still associate Hyundai with this:

Note with each copy there is a distinct loss of taste.

Sorry.

For those of you who haven't been in a Hyundai in awhile, go to a dealer and check out their newest stuff. They are CLOBBERING the domestics at this point, and they are on par with the Japs & Germans IMO, at least at their price point. $23,000 gets you a LOT of car with them. Nothing to get you excited about, but if you are shopping new sedans at that price point, they are at the top of the heap.

I was really suprised when I looked inside Hyundais at the autoshow down here last month. They are really on their game.

Agreed.

My father in law rented one last trip up here.

Fit/finish was nice. The options package was on par with all the high end brands.

We checked the price as equipped and it was very attractive. Add in the 10 year warranty and they are hard to ignore.

I'd seriously consider one.

What do you base that on?

I have a 2001 SLK which if you believe all the crap-talking armchair quarterbacks out there, should be a terrible car.

It's been virtually flawless. My only problems were an auto-dimming rear view mirror that didn't auto-dim (replaced under warranty) and a busted windshield due to a rock kicked up by an 18-wheeler. Other than that, it's been a very good car. Oh, and it's twin-plugged too.

Granted this is a sample size of "1" so statistically insignificant, but based on the discussions I hear on the M.B. forums, the build quality isn't nearly as bad as the naysayers would have one believe.

At least they have originality and innovation on their side, which is more than everyone else. Not to mention aesthetic sensibility.

the 90's where horrible for MB and the last 3 E class cars my father have owned have been pure junk. The C-Coupe that one of my cousins had went through 4 transmissions before she dumped it.

They should really call it the "Clone".

Hyundais are pretty junky IMO. I can tell you, after sitting in one for 6 hours, I couldn't wait to get back into a domestic car with thick seat padding.
