India Presents the Cheapest Car!

I guess the roaming sacred cows are safe...

"...can seat four people, or five." I bet they can get more than that in there...

I'd love to see one of those and a Bugatti Veyron race at the track.

I was just reading about that this morning.

Aren't there golf carts more expensive than that?

The funniest thing is that there are 'opponents' to the car who are worried about all the extra pollution from people who can finally afford a car. Who the HELL are they to say some poor guy can't finally get a frickin car?!?!

I would actually consider buying one of those- just having something THAT cheap, but new, would be kinda nice. Plus, I bet with good tires it would be a decent AutoX machine. Look at how small those tires are- I bet hoosiers would be SUPER cheap for it

If every urban commuter would shift to something like that - we might have more room on the roads and a place to park.

It is really just an enclosed and four wheel version of the 3-wheeled rickshaws that now clog and pollute (2 cycle) the roads of Indian cities..

Tata makes a tough little truck. I would not mind one up on the farm.

Why do I get the feeling we'll be seeing a precipitous decline in the Indian population soon?

"In there?" Seating for 5 inside, plus 9 more outside.

"No radio, no air-conditioning, no passenger side mirror," that sounds like the "Club Sport" version, maybe they can charge extra like Porsche does.

This car demonstrates, with a turn of the key, that America's days are numbered. Folks say that Indians and Chinese don't have the ability to think out of the box and only do what they are told in a strict "paint by numbers" fashion.

Well, this car kills that notion of India who will dominate the third world auto market with this car, and many "downgraded" technologies/products to follow. For China, there's a growing U.S. consulting market that teaches out of the box thinking to Chinese businessmen.

and Porsche is supposed to be building a factory in India, according to CAR magazine.

Plastic and sheetmetal. No welds, just glue! I can't wait to see this thing crash tested! It would be a natural for a Top Gear episode. Jeremy Clarkson in a Tata... brilliant.
