Are your dogs allowed on the bed?
 

Damn! I've gotta vent. I have three dogs and two of them are up on the bed constantly when I'm not home. It doesn't bother my wife but it drives me crazy! We have a big hill just out our back door and all of the dogs are up there whenever they're out. As soon as they're back inside, however (assuming I'm not around), they are right back on the bed, complete with their sandy feet and fur that gets shed all over seemingly instantly.

Every single friggin night, before I can get into that gross sand, dirt, and fur covered bed, I have to break out the big vacuum cleaner, pull out the hose and brush and spend ten minutes vacuuming it clean again.

The next day, I have to do it all over again.

I've seen quite a few pics of guys here with their dogs on the bed. Does it not bother you guys that sand, dirt, and fur are all over your bed? It doesn't seem to bother my wife, but personally, it grosses me out.

Sorry, I just had to rant. I have to go vacuum the bed now. :mad:

We have 2 dogs that I would not allow in the bed, it would bother me to.

People who let their animals sleep in their beds gross me out...

I wonder if they sit on your pillow?!?

No! I make them sleep on blankets on the floor and they should be glad that I'm even letting them sleep in the house.

When we had dogs, many years ago, they were allowed on the bed. But we lived in a surburban neighborhood, fenced little yard, the dogs didn't get dirty.

Today, I wouldn't let dogs on the bed. But that's because we have kids now, and adding dogs be too much some nights. In fact, I wouldn't even have dogs now.

Dogs not allowed. My cats keep to the foot end of the bed so it does not bug me.

Good to hear I'm not the only one who finds this to be disgusting. Don't get me wrong...I love my dogs. I just can't stand their sandy furry a$$es all over my clean sheets and blanket.

We have two black labs; not allowed on the bed or the furniture. We can leave the house and they don't get up where they shouldn't.

My wife's an animal lover. I grew up in a house with six siblings, so dad didn't have patience for pets. I've come to appreciate our dogs (and our parrot). My view has always been that a well trained dog will be well liked by other people. Don't get me wrong, they'll eat your lunch if you give them half a chance.:D

We have a Shi-tzhu (yeah, ghey, I know) and he does not even sit on the furniture. Sure, I like the dog, but he ain't people.

After one (or possibly two if you have a "dumber" breed) "jolts", they won't go near the bed even if there were raw steaks sitting on it. (Just remember to un-plug it before YOU get on the bed!) :eek:

I've always taught my dogs not to get on ANY furniture. They never gave me the impression that they were unhappy about it or that they felt deprived :).

There has to be a bright side to this :D
Hmmm, I guess your wife doesn't mind the dog farts so what does she when you do?

You clean the bed and have set the precident. Smart woman, why should she change when you take car of the bed?

Why do you just get a bedcover for the dogs?

I had a smartarse cat before. He would sleep between me and my ex. I think he did it to show me who was boss. lolo ... cute but really a pain when I tried to get some. :rolleyes:

No Dogs, No Cats & No Kids in my bed. Ever.
No TV in the bedroom either.

That Scat Mat sounds like an idea. Nothing else will work because they all know that when Daddy's around, the bed is off limits or there is hell to pay, but when Momma is the only one home, it's time to play and frolic all over the bed immediately. She doesn't stop them and says she doesn't care that they're on the bed so she won't make them get off when I'm not around. The deal was that she would be the one who would clean the bed since she was allowing them on it in the first place. Reality, however, is that usually she has to leave pretty quickly for her night shift as a NICU nurse and simply doesn't have time to do the clean-up beforehand. So that usually leaves me with the vacuuming job if I want to actually sleep in the bed that night.

We've gone 'round and 'round on this one time and again and by now she mostly feels that I'm being a broken record nag over the whole thing so I just have to admit that some fights are not worth it in the long run.

So, the Scat Mat is sounding better and better now. Maybe they can be taught that the top of the bed equals a jolt and they'll learn to avoid it at ALL times - not just when I'm there to supervise.

The shocks will train them very quickly. You may have to give them a "tune-up" every now and again, but if they are a "smart" breed, they'll remember the zap for a lifetime. And, if you want to have some real fun, leave it under the blanket on the missus side of the bed... ;)

It has to be a special occasion for them to get to come inside at all. We have 2 female labs. It's 31F right now, but it's has to be 70 in their igloo. I just checked on them an hour ago, snug as a bug.

No dogs here, although the wife wants one.
Two cats though, and they do sleep on the bed for the most part.
In fact, I find it very difficult to get to sleep without at least one of them snuggling up to me and purring on me.

the cats sleep at the foot of the bed. I have a sheet that is over the comforter to keep things clean. They don't get under the covers or near the pillows. The female, Twiggy, does like to watch though. It is a little odd...I think she gets jealous.
