My grandfather owns several mobile home parks, which feature predictably colorful people. One of the most interesting was the guy we called duct tape man. He was a grumpy old man who lived alone in an older home, and covered everything he owned in duct tape. On the exterior of the house, every seam had duct tape on it. And when I say every seam, I mean seams between the aluminum siding, around the windows and doors, where the awnings met the house, where the skirting met the house, everywhere. He had a border made of random rocks around his drive, and the rocks were held together with.....wait for it......duct tape.
He had a cane covered with duct tape. Every window on his Pacer (yes a Pacer) was surrounded with duct tape. Inside, every seam, heat register, toilet, countertop, back door, etc was surrounded by duct tape. Were it not a crappy old mobile home, I'm sure it would have been highly efficient. When he dropped off his tax info at my wife's accounting firm, the folder was held together with duct tape. At times, when he was feeling crazy, the duct tape was reinforced with silicone. Interesting fellow, his family finally put him in a nursing home, where he later died.
