Just driving through a neighboring 909 city’s downtown, and I come across one of the most uniques Benz’s I’ve ever seen - just heading to the local O’Reilly’s for a part:
![]() ![]() ![]() So I did what every red blooded American gearhead would do, I followed him. Once parked I introduced myself and convinced him I wasn’t a stalker, just another car-crazed Californian. And as usual, the owner turned out to be quite affable. He found the car in an avocado grove, but thankfully it was mostly intact. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Coachbuilt by Karosserie Binz, who also did Mercedes ambulances.
One on BAT from 2012. https://bringatrailer.com/2012/02/26/binz-wagon-1960-mercedes-benz-190d-kombi/

1959 MBZ 190D, 1 of 700 coachbuilt wagons by Binz. Apparently ordered by a US serviceman stationed in Germany and imported to CA. The current owner knows of only one other - in San Diego area.

![]() ![]() Bosch MFI! ![]() And now the business end of the old wagon: ![]() I really do miss tailgates - that’s the only thing I’d change about my Explorer. Besides the BMW X5, I cant think of an SUV that has one anymore...

Scooters are the preferred way to get around in congested Italian cities like here in Sorrento. Not uncommon to see lineups like this all over town.
