Now I'm feeling old.

My son and I decided to spend the day in LA Saturday, and neither of us had been in a while - esp not side they added the Porsche exhibit. We bought tix to both the museum AND the “Vault” - a basement filled with an eclectic mix of over 300 very interesting cars. To put it lightly we were both over-stimulated after about three hours, so we finished the day with cigars and steaks at our favorite spot in the Hollywood Hills.

A bit of what we saw:



For those who haven’t been, Peterson bought an abandoned department store with four floors above ground and a very large basement, and converted it into a museum. Maybe a decade later they “wrapped“ it in stainless steel as seen above.




Perhaps the most welcoming elevator doors I’ve ever seen!












Perhaps all 356s had these, but this very early Gmund example had what would appear to be a fresh air scoop(?) next to the horn behind the front bumper.



The elegance of that Roadster is hard to capture in a 2D image. But it’s a crying shame they didn’t build way more of them. And I’m shocked Beck or Interchanica never made a reproduction.
