1965 Porsche 911 Archived Road Test – Review – Car and Driver

Quote:
The new body is far more handsome—the work of old Professor Porsche's grandson, Ferry, Jr. The 911's 5-speed gear*box, already in service in Porsche's 904 GT racing car, is probably the new car's best single feature. Even the suspension is new, though tried-and-true torsion bars are retained as the springing medium.

I do not think this is very accurate drawing.

Junk yard seats. There is a bit of wear on the vinyl sides of bolsters. Leather is decent tho.

Carbon/kevlar front mud-flaps.

Just arrived last week as someone's new project.

This thing is built like a Russian brick $$it house. The aluminum skin is thicker than the sheet metal on my 95 GMC PU.

Looks like an An-2. Do I have it a$$-backwards? The cockpit view of the prop shows a C.W. turning engine - I was always under the impression that Russian birds' props spun C.C.W. Then again the prop shown might be in full reverse. Would someone kindly let me know.

Cheers
JB

The Annie is the largest single engine Biplane in the world... maybe ever.

That Shvetsov radial engine is a Soviet made Wright Cyclone radial, with some revisions.

I turns CW (from the cockpit) like the Cyclone.

It is supercharged, though.

Saw one at an air show... it's huge.

You gotta love a car where the front bumper is in a different zip code than the driver.

Next time I see the owner, I'll ask about it. I honestly never took note which direction the engines turn. I know that the Russian radial conversion is popular on the Pitts modification, but never noticed the rotational direction.
