Waterfuel
Ok all you scientists, chemists, and engineers....
I just saw this Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vm5JhpWt4GQ about a guy that converts water with some electrolysis into a fuel. Sounds crazy but the video shows him welding with the stuff and supposedly Congress has asked him to demonstrate it. What's everyone's thoughts on this? |
Sure, you can convert water to hydrogen and oxygen, then burn it to produce water.
The problem is that it is not a "fuel" then, but an energy-storage medium, similar to a battery. Energy is lost to heat at each step in the process. |
How much energy does it take to make it? If takes less to make it than what you get, I guess you would have solved the mystery behind Our Lady of Perpetual Motion..

It probably takes a lot of energy to make it which is why he runs his car on a mix of his process and gasoline. I forgot where I read it but there is no other fuel source that has the power and the price of gasonline....it's the most bang for the buck (or $3.38 per gallon) |
