Bamboo Flooring install Per Sq ft?

How much per sq. ft. should bamboo flooring cost? In SF I'm being quoted 14 dollars PSF for install. Is this competitive?

I know you guys know this one, please let me know!

You can get decent stuff (bamboo) for $3 per SF. How hard can it be to install? $14 per SF? That means a 1000 SF space would cost $14,000 to cover? Hmmmmm..... Some folks have a lot more money to waste than I do.

Yup $3 a SF for pretty good quality Bamboo Flooring (3/4")

I installed myself and it is VERY easy compared to hardwood.

When I priced bamboo a few years ago, it was almost the same price as unfinished oak. I bought 1000sq ft of unfinished oak and installed it myself, then had a professional finish it for $1 per sq ft and it turned out great. I couldn't get used to the look of bamboo, it's just not for us, especially in a traditional Colonial.

You can get 5/8 bamboo from Lumber Liquidators nationwide for $1.99 a square foot and it is an easy install.
Just check out their web site.

I bought my red oak 3/4" strip flooring from the local Lumber Liquidators and they were great to deal with!

Well, I ended up going with white oak with a stain. Was much cheaper than I thought. $4200 for oak, install and stain. I'll get the dimensions in my next post, with pics!

thanks everyone.

Ok, just found this thread, and others on the subject.

The wifey and I want to rip out our 11 y/o carpeting and install wood flooring in most of the house. Tile or stone in the bathrooms and leave the carpet in the big living room we never use.

Single story house, concrete slab, Southern California. My concern about the engineered hardwoods is they're a veneer, and can be refinished at most twice. I've been in some 100+ year old houses in Boston this week and I see the advantage of solid hardwood, it can be sanded again and again. While I doubt my house will be here 100 years from now, (cheap modern construction), I like the fact that the solid stuff will be around. I see costs from Lumber liquidators for many hardwoods that are competitive with Loews engineered stuff. Any thoughts? I'm going to a lumber liquidators probably tomorrow.
