Honest guy or idiot?
|
Idiot. **** Brinks. If they are stupid enough to drop 140k in the street, they deserve to lose it. Let them eat it.
|
It was the bank's, hence insured.
It was unmarked and not even an old lady's life savings? Yeah, I have to sleep with myself but in this particular situation I think I'd sleep like a baby. Maybe $140,000 isn't a lot for some people but its a hell of a lot to me. |
that would be really difficult to do
Karma (sp) can be a real *****. |

$140,000???? There was only $50,000 when I found it and called the police!
|
Hahah, I didn't say I'd definitely give it back, just that it'd be a tough decision.
Still, today he's $2k richer than he was... |

Would have turned it in. It was not mine so not mine to keep...

Duplicate post.

You have to understand, people. This $$ was in the hands of Brinks, they get paid big bucks to transport it and not drop it out the back door of the truck onto the street. If they drop it, they can eat it. $140k is a frikking used gum wrapper to Brinks. It is an insignificant amount to them, or their insurance company.
Technically it may have belonged to a bank, but Brinks would be responsible for it while they had posession of it. If it really was BofA's $$? Hell, that would be even better. Talk about kharma. Banks deserved to get drilled in the ass. Insurance companies even more. |

It was the right thing to do. |
I suppose the practical realities of this situtation if you were going to keep the money is the average person (like us) wouldn't KNOW if it were marked...but that can be researched.
You'd have to put it in a safe deposit box and let it sit a long time...perhaps taking small amounts out for use (AFTER you figured out it was unmarked) and of course never depositing it in an investment or interest bearing account in amounts greater than $10,000. I don't know. I'd figure it out. It would (in a way) be a fun project to do....from a public library computer! |
If you kept that money and bought . . . . lets say . . . . a nice 997 Turbo,
The odds are very high that you would get T-BONED by a tractor-trailer in your first week with the car. That's just how it works. That guy did the right thing. Life's a b*tch, but he did the right thing. |

Who the money belonged to and who was responsible for its loss is irrelevant. There is no grey area here. It's either right or wrong. |

He did the right thing. The $2000 from Brinks did not sufficiently reward the deed.

During my life Karma has taught me many lessons. Thankfully within days if not hours of my transgressions so the cause/affect was evident. I have a friend who Karma is absolutely killing. He's gettin all his bad crap back years later and all at once. Sucks to be him right now. |
Yes he is honest. No, he isn't an idiot. If he were an idiot he would keep the money, and then he would be an idiot and a thief.
He can look at himself in the mirror and realize he is not a scumbag. That is worth allot to people with character. |
