Great wine
McKeon - Phillips, Bailey's Private Reserve, 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Barbara Barbara
Grilled up a porterhouse on the mini-Weber, cut up a tomato with salt, pepper and olive oil, and opened my last bottle of McKeon-Phillips. Got it 5 years ago in a little store in Sunnyvale, CA while visiting a friend. It was amazing with spaghetti and Italian sausage. one of the few wines I've had where it matches perfectly with the food. porterhouses were on super special at the market so I picked one up. decided to see how it would go. smooth as port, big cherry flavor, perfect for grilled meat. if you can find it, get some! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1209690515.jpg |
Mmmmmm - love good wine. Haven't tried that one, but this was my Monday ordeal:

I would think the Opus or the Far Niente would have been pretty tasty, little young maybe

Pulled a '96 Far Niente Cab out of the cellar a couple of months ago and it was stunning. The 2005 we tasted Monday was very good, but a bit light on tannins, so I wouldn't give it more than about 5 years laydown. Unfortunately didn't get to the Opus - we got there late and even with diligent effort couldn't get to everything.

We drank a 96 Far Niente Cab over Christmas. Just fantastic.

Opus would have been the first one I reached for, though that Oakville Cab is probably pretty impressive
