PRK Eye Surgery
Just so some don't get their hopes up next week when I'm not posting, most likely I won't be dead or in jail, just recouping from corrective eye. Yep, for the 1st time in my life, I'll be able to wake up & see clearly:D
Monday morning, laser beam to the eyes and not long after, I should be able to see clearly. Anyone else done this??? |
I did a few years ago. Dunno why you would be away from the computer. I was home early afternoon, took a long nap and went for a walk that evening. Both eyes have there issues. Left eye is a bit far sighted now and the right (dominant) is near sighted. I need to have them looked at.

Byron..i had it done. I was nearly legally blind. I had PRK about 3 years agho..i am still better than 20/20
expect pain if the meds are not working....you won't see well for like a month to 60 days...you will also be putting lots of eye drops in. Just after i had it done, i could notr really see well but it progressivly gets better and better. FYI I paid $5500 for both eyes done at the SAME time... Good luck..PRK is a MUCH better decision than LASIK...i have no side effects |
I did about 11 years ago. I couldn't stand sweat running onto my glasses while I ran. Best thing I've done for myself. Also at that time it was quite expensive, I think I paid like $4,400.00. There are the horror stories out there, infections, blurry vision, blindness. But I don't have one.
Good luck!!!!!!!! Edit... mine was lasik |
I guess I should clear things up a bit. I had LASIK, was able to see that evening, but I did see halos around lights at night for a little while. I too, had to use drops for about a month - steroids and antibiotics. I was also almost legally blind. I was tired of wearing contacts.

My eyes weren't bad, started wearing glasses at 23, so I could never get used to them. I had Lasik done at around 5 p.m. and was out of the office by 5:45. Your eyes might feel like you've swam in a heavily chlorinated pool. They gave me Valium for the surgery so I went home and crashed out. Woke up the next A.M. with 15/15 vision.
Best thing you could do for yourself. Make sure you pick up a nice pair of sunglasses before hand. That's the only side effect I have 5 years later, I need my shades in the brite sunshine. Good luck. |
Had to blow it didn't you.
Byron has a legitimate excuse. I'm disappointed.... |
Got PRK six years ago...paid 1800 $ for. I get now 20/20 +...No regrets yet....The first year was a bit tough to drive at night....
|
LASIK two years ago. I have old man corneas and they both scratched when they made the flap. I had to heal those before I had any happy vision, but everything cleared up and I'm better than 20/20. Life is good.

You guys do know that once you hit your 40's, your vision will change again, right?
This means that if you are 30 now, and after the surgery you have 20/20 or 15/15, enjoy it for the next 10 years; save some $$ as you will need it again once more time. BTW, the latest things are the implants. Some of the blinds are now able to see. |
Had cataract lasar done on my left eye a few years ago. I have been incredibly nearsighted for years ( -10 or so). So now I have one eye almost normal.
Was at work next day, sunlight no worse than before. Jim |

The only thing I have heard is not to have it before 25-27 y.o., after that your eyes are where they'll be for a l-o-n-g time. And i don't think you can go from nearsighted correction to farsighted correction. |

I'm having Atlantic Eye Institute (www. atlanticeyeinstitute. com) do it, one of my buddies is a partner & will make sure I get first class treatment. My corneas are to thin for lasik, so it will take a bit longer to heal, but once ready, it will be so nice to get on my bike & just ride and doing track events will be much easier. too:cool: |
You do know Byron, you will be able to see some of those women you've posted without the "hazy lighting" you're used to...:D
|
Had LASIK about 10 years ago. Couldn't be happier. Now where the hell did I put my glasses? :D
|
I had it done about 7 years ago, 20 at the time. My vision is very clear, if i had to pay to have the surgery done every year i would. 2 thumbsup from me :)
|
I heard you should also cut back on waxing the dolphin before and after the surgery.
|
I had PRK 17 months ago. Though my un-corrected vision is improved, I still have to wear glasses because PRK does not fix the 'bumpiness' of the eye surface. The recovery sucked- eye drops every half hour, eyes glued shut every morning, and I am now very sensitive to light, plus night driving sucks. Hate to be a downer, but I wouldn't do it again if I had the chance. (I should have spent the $3k on mods for my 911!)
I really hope it works out for you though- I know I am in the minority. Cheers, Paul. |
Q: Have you seen Stevie Wonders new sunglasses?
A: Neither has he!! Just a , little blind joke, sorry any blind people reading this, I apologize. |
